Knowing how hard my gynae, another Epworth endo specialist, fought to keep my ovaries, even the tiniest bits that were left after multiple endometriomas, I'm astonished that they'd be removed at 25. Mine are gone now, thanks to the heightened risk that endo + family history bring of ovarian cancer.
I worry with reporting of cases like this that women in my situation will continue to be dismissed. Endo is a bastard of a disease. I had hope that things had improved from the 90’s & ‘00 when my first 3 ops were done. I know I was lucky to find someone who listened. A breach in trust is devastating
This has rattled me, after multiple endo surgeries & finally a hysterectomy last year. Trust in your specialist is so critical.
Negative histology on my first 2 surgeries, yet symptoms remained. 3rd found invasive endo buried in my pelvic wall. 10 years to find what was always there. Damage done.
I hope the anaesthesia induced dreams are filled with birds and auroras, and the post op pain management is brilliant. Go well, Sandy.
