(Also, you'll always get my attention with Went the Day Well.)
(Yup, yup, yup, yup. It's all geared to things platforms and advertisers want, not creators and, frankly, not audiences. It pushes audiences towards things (video podcasts*) that aren't why they fell in love with podcasts.)
*Not video podcasts, really. Clips is what they want. Clips = clicks.
Yes, x1000! This is what we're trying to do at Listen & Often. Doing things like James Pond with big stars is all about building an ecosystem for this kind of new writing.
This goes live on Friday on Listen & Often. We really hope you like it
Or www.patreon.com/listenandoften? The answer, Ed, is yes.
(If artists are going to pander slavishly to their consumers, be their consumers! Make them your slaves!)
Reminds me I came up with this solution to the problems of the new economic model in the arts back on Twitter
Rudy Giuliani, dressed in a yellow suit, with a yellow and blue tie and pocket square
Barry Howard in 1980s sitcom Hi-De-Hi, dressed in the yellow coat uniform of yellow jacket with blue trims and sporting a yellow tie with blue spots.
Listen & Often endorses this message!

You really do have excellent taste
I saw Spoon Halflife play the Astoria, 2008.
And what rough beast, its hour come round at last,
Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?
Tall Tales is Tuesday 25th, at the North London Tavern, 7.30pm - @garethmedwards.bsky.social @johnfinnemore.bsky.social @alexfranklinhallo.bsky.social and all new Taxidermy from @annasavory.bsky.social
Amazingly, it is still ยฃ5
I am not the only person in my marriage who has no idea about this because we were asleep by this point. (This was separately, in our respective youths.)
a stray dog stands in a bushy area. the dog is blue with golden eyes. he looks majestic as he stares off into the distance.
a group of 4 dogs rest together in a bushy area. two of the dogs are tan, one is black, and the last is blue with long, scruffy fur.
a blue dog is mid-step as he walks through brush.
Some of the stray dogs living near Chernobyl have recently turned blue. This confused scientists for weeks, until they realized they had simply been rolling around in chemicals from a nearby set of portable toilets. 14/10 for all
Patriot might not be of the last ten years by now. It doesn't matter that I say this, by the way. Patriot has a forcefield that stops people watching Patriot. But it's better than FAM and less rated (yes, yes, I know these things are subjective, but it is)
(As soon as I say that, I worry it's like a lot of the fights we want because the fight is pure: it would end up as one long (bad faith) news story of how it proves the BBC is leftist and contribute to the destruction of something amazing and irreplaceable.)
You're right. It's a law case I'd like to see fought (for fun)
(We held ourselves - and were held by our brilliant BBC director - to higher editorial standards when writing plays about Boeing and Putin. And, sure, pressure of budgets and time, but our budget was a lot lower than Panorama's.)
(Yes, the arguments pro-T and anti-BBC are almost all in wilful bad faith but: I'm so angry with Panorama that I can hardly speak. They knew exactly what their enemies wanted and they gave it to them. The Head of News - if that is the senior line-manager - should have been sacked, not resigned.)

I must go down to the sands again,
To the lonely sands and the sky,
Where all I see are vast trunkless legs,
And a sneering visage by.
Hand once mocking, heart once feeding,
Sculpted passions baring,
Ozymandias, king of all kings,
Of his works despairing.
Too soon.
