As an aside, I am genuinely happy by how many more pied wagtails I see across the city nowadays - they're such cheeky little birds and they seem to be more at home on city streets and by stations 🐦

Several smaller birds have zipped overhead, but none have landed - the weather here isn't great, and although there's more foliage on the big tree than this time last year, there's still not much shelter for them...
I think there must be some announcement when I sit down to count, all the birds in the area make themselves scarce... I saw two wood pigeon fly off, and that's the only sign of life so far!
My husband told me there was a massive bunch of starlings in that tree yesterday, I said of course there would be on the day I'm not counting 🙄
