Is North's Fantastic Four worth a read, if I didn't like One World Under Doom?

I love that one page in Avengers: Disassembled, where folks are remembering Hawkeye, and how Clint just has to be massively extra when it comes to Cap. Like he can't just agree or disagree, it has to be a whole show

Saying Carol hasn't been subject to narrative hijinks is sort of like saying Rick Jones is a serious character with consistent, steady, and sober characterization.

Man is a smokeshow

Absolutely. You could have made Phasma (a massive waste of the incredible Gwendolyn Christie) his rival who he never quite beat until he finally mastered his powers. The bones are all there, they just lost focus on the core dynamic of our three heroes

Because they work at cross purposes to their leadership, fueled by fantasies as opposed to the real, hard work of building a something.

I'd argue not. Episodes I-III was about how institutions can be corrupted. Most characters within are operating from positions of power, or at the behalf of powerful forces.

Canto Bight was about how factionalism and division and destroy new movements. The plucky heroes make things worse...

You recognize that your words are posed above? You can shift goalposts but that doesn't change what you've actually written

The most beautiful SW film by a country mile. Parts look like they could have been shot by Chloe Zhou. Simply stunning.

People hated the parts of 1-3 that discussed war economy and politics too! Theu mocked the idea that a foolish rube like Jar Jar would be 1) In power and 2) Could be manipulated to instigate fascism.

Well, wouldn't you know it, but those ideas resound in modern times.

Canto Bight was a kick in the teeth of the idea that "plucky heroes will save the day," and so much could have been done with that lesson learned.

If there was any mistake in it, it's that it either should have been more foundational to the plot, or been an entire movie into itself

... We literally live in a time when the hyper rich are visibly pushing multiple wars of conquest in order to enrich themselves personally, and you want to say Canto Bight isn't relevant?

That's the core fantasy of Superman, though. Not that there exists a physical god, but that he would choose to be good and decent when he would gain more personally selling out

It's amazing, and it kills my fav character in the series. Those movies are bangers, definitely worth a watch

3 was so absolutely sharkjumpingly crazy that you have to admire it though.

Yeah, and it's such a shallow, power focused universe. Like z the ultimate message of the universe is that might makes right and that fascism is not only acceptable, but logical

08.03.2026 04:23 ๐Ÿ‘ 1 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

It's just a phenomenal waste of a concept and a message

06.03.2026 07:00 ๐Ÿ‘ 1 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

It had me until the last few issues. The message it is trying to send is ultimately lost by the fact that there really was one big special guy who solved everything. Heck, they spent like 2 years building TT Doomsday up only for his contribution to be "let me tell Superman he's special"

06.03.2026 06:59 ๐Ÿ‘ 1 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 2 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

It definitely didn't stick the landing. Also, why have this whole journey for Bruce with the way he went out.

Death Metal had this issue too, it feels like folks don't know how to use him in these cosmic crossovers

DC KO succeeds at being a fun excuse for superheroes to punch each other. Sometimes that's all you need a story to be.

It also can't seem to hold to its own premise, had a tie in series more interesting than the main series, and abandoned any sense of plotting in the last few issues.

06.03.2026 06:49 ๐Ÿ‘ 0 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

It just really inelegantly drives home that point. Because ultimately it was just a worse, less thoughtful version of Final Crisis and even Death Metal (a book so ridiculously over the top that attributing the word "thoughtful" to it is physically painful)

06.03.2026 06:45 ๐Ÿ‘ 0 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

I don't know how you could come to any other conclusion, really?

05.03.2026 23:27 ๐Ÿ‘ 1 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

I'm not saying you're wrong, but I do remember reading that Venezuelan oil needs a lot more refining than oil from other regions and so wouldn't really help in the way folks thought it might

And it's a real shame, because after decades of the Trinity, it would be nice to see some of the lesser known properties get their time to shine.

DC hasn't really done that since 52, I think.
