Co-author of said MVPA signatures, @torwager.bsky.social brought to our attention how these findings also demonstrate that placebo reflects neural granularity from other active techniques - countering the notion that placebo has to reflect some shared mechanism with active treatments
Our study enjoyed a large sample size and combined BOLD and ASL fMRI to find that mindfulness meditation reduces pain through distinct MVPA signatures from placebo cream and a not-so-sham mindfulness meditation condition www.biologicalpsychiatryjournal.com/article/S000...
