Aurora Borealis?? At this time of year? At this time of day? In this part of the country? Localized entirely within the Nine Inch Nails main stage???

But sometimes? A movie is not good. If you cannot lock in you may start playing Rewrite in your head, or the sillier Fanfiction. It happens. But I also suggest the games Where is the Camera, What is Everyone Wearing, and What Did They Want Us to Feel to try and stay engaged.
And it can be HARD to do that. On top of the distraction issue, we are so conditioned to have Takes and Understand that we can get in our own way very easily. You can also be in a weird headspace, etc, it is a skill to tune to radio static. But TRY to let every film teach you how to watch it.
Sometimes you get swept up in it and only start to have thoughts after, sometimes thoughts come to you throughout, sometimes you only get Feelings, which is not shallow engagement but one of the most powerful viewing experiences you can have. The goal is to sit with, be in, what a film IS.
My short answer to this is βtune your brain to radio static.β You donβt want your brain Off, but you also donβt want a particular voice in your head. Start open, undirected. Let the frequency come through.
HUGE line out the door at the movie theater. No visible divisions. Gal at the end of the line asks if Iβm here for HOME ALONE general admission. I thought all of these children were here to see KILL BILL

My Letterboxd review, Bugonia: Very sad. Loved everything up to the end which did not hit as I hoped it would, but certainly did not flop. A real grinding despair that slips into the feeling of latex a little too nicely and sets the conclusion at a remove. May feel differently on a second watch. Looks incredible. The black and white sequences are possibly my favorite of the year. Really deeply grateful I didn't have to talk to anyone afterwards. Go alone.
:(
I donβt do star wars anymore. TROS freed me of my curse (Andor notwithstanding) but this could have earned so much goodwill from me I need some Disney social media scraper to pull these posts. Bob Iger. Lucasfilm. Shareholder value
Everyone on twitter is losing their minds, the unity is incredible. Imagine passing on a finished script starring Adam Driver from the director of OCEANβS ELEVEN
Logging on specifically to publicly state how stupid Disney is for passing on this. βDidnβt see howββ Darth Maul got cut in half
John Mulaney raising his hand to say βI think Paul Allen is a lesbianβ
There is no succinct way to give you context, so I wonβt
Cracking up at how many replies there are to this that are like βExcuse me, but have you considered that THEREβS NOTHING TO LAUGH ABOUTβ

Oh my god actually heβs STILL playing Nate Jacobs. Godspeed to you big long man
Also, for the record, I do really like Elordi as an actor. I just donβt like him for Bateman! He already played Nate Jacobs!
Wuthering Heights was the first book I ever consciously disliked as a kid, but American Psycho rearranged my brain as a youth in an unsalvagable way. These are equally classic books in my mind
I donβt really care if Jacob Elordi plays Heathcliff but if he gets cast as Patrick Bateman Iβm going to have some sort of mental break. Hollywood donβt do this to me
One batch of samples inexplicably sent me Penguin by Zoologist in addition to the ones I did ask for, and I ADORE it. What a nice surprise
Getting into perfume/scents is so fun and satisfying and weirdly gender affirming as corny as that may be. Love 2 smell good and strange
Iβve got great news :)

FILM EXEC: listen up jerks. our industry is in shambles. iβm looking for one great idea. something to inspire audiences, leave them in tears of rapture
ME: (hand shoots up in excitement)
EXEC: something other than βthe brothers karamazov but with full penetrationβ
