The fun part about Japanese media is how wide-ranging things are brought together for making stupid references to Dragon Ball

Like that time you accidentally made a Hunter X Hunter reference in DBZA
I mean more, like, the power level shit. Alcides seems to show off a new power every episode and the Grail Mud can apparently do everything.
You know what was a surprisingly comprehensible Fate story? Fate/Samurai Remnant. Just compress the adaptation a bit and make the New Game+ ending the actual end and you'd have a decent anime. The only weird backstory shit is the stuff with Musashi and she's not that important.
like it is very stylish, but there is absolutely no way anyone but the most rabid of type-moon fans would be able to figure out who all these characters are without a wiki
and that's just the characters. When they start to fight it gets even more complicated
okay, fate strange fake was already hard to follow even *as* a type-moon fan but combining apparently a sped-up adaptation with the sheer complexity of the characters means I'm basically completely lost on what's going on anymore.
It was certainly a Choice to make this an anime.
It manages to solve the biggest problem of creative minecraft-types of "I don't know where to start, there are too many options". It's hard to build something from scratch, but it feels good to find an unfinished template and fill in all the gaps. makes brain go brr
Pokopia is "Imagine someone made a 1:1 recreation of Kanto in Minecraft but it was in Survival mode and the mobs totally fucked it up. Can you rebuild it?"
haha...Pokopia is just as addictive as Dragon Quest Builders 2 was.
Good thing I'm playing in handheld and I have to recharge the switch otherwise I don't know how I'd stop playing
I don't know what to think when I hear Japanese tourists behind me while I've got Umapyoi Legend stuck in my head
Man, remember the Dragon Ball Super fansub era?
Well, a professional who knows how to diagnose these things
I love how my fandom experience involves just saying completely incomprehensible shit, like "you know shit's getting real when Inagami is AD"
they let a horse in the bar?
I'm really enjoying my phase of media consumption where I watch something, say "Man, I bet the online discourse about this went hard", and purposely choose not to look up any of it.
what I'm saying is she feels like she's almost there to be the 'obstacle' in the romance and the revenge plot, but really everything she's doing is reasonable and worth respecting. If she gets hate, she doesn't deserve it.
I wonder if there's Discourse about Akane. Because she has a lot of relevance while still feeling restrained in terms of having "appealing traits". She's just a girl with some detective skills who doesn't 'belong' here, really.
Best to talk to a professional about it. It's easy to self-diagnose, but that doesn't mean it's true.
I really do wonder what Toriyama was thinking with Gomah's design. Did he just not remember he drew Jiren with the same colour and outfit design? Did he not care? It's just so disappointing.
It stops the franchise moving forward when every arc has to make a subplot about a guy whose motivation is based on the past to justify why he's going to get another powerup and look cool.
You know my one, I think the franchise as a whole is harmed when it focuses on Vegeta as "Goku's eternal rival and co-protagonist".
Man, and I can imagine people falling for that, too. Maybe not on Reddit, but other places.
Well if they're making slurs for Jews they're just the bog-standard Nazi. But I guess seeing their language getting accepted in leftist spaces makes them think they have allies now
Making casual jokes about Israelis or 'Zionists' being untalented or thieves or child killers isn't being a cool leftist fighting colonialism, it's just being an internet nazi
If you use memes like "X was promised to me 3000 years ago" or "spiritually Israeli", either fix your language around me or don't interact
even if just so you can understand the memes
Umineko? You've probably read Umineko already
this shit makes me feel bad for queer people, they go to great lengths to explain their existence isn't inherently sexual but then all the stuff that gets advertised as being about them or for them is just porn and only porn
why is there so much porn on steam?
seriously though what is going on at Toei Animation in 2026
"let's do a cyberpunk Digimon with dark storylines and no accompanying toy line!"
"let's do a detective Precure with a time travel plot!"
"what about One Piece?"
"let's put that on hiatus"
"what-"
