Anyone else Googling doctors that you receive emails from to verify if they have actually completed a residency and if they are in fact board-certified (and digging in to see if their residency and board certification(s) are even remotely close to whatever they are selling)? Just me?
Cooking with umami in mind is one of the easiest ways to make plant-based food feel deeply satisfying.
Mushrooms + white beans + greens = simple, savory, craveable.

Saturday at Central Florida Veg Fest, I talked about Aging Compassionately: nourishment, ethics, and self-compassion can deepen with age.
π± We donβt have to do it all.
π± We get to choose what nourishes us.
π± Eating well for longevity is self-compassion.
π± Staying vegan as we age is activism.
Iβll be speaking at Central Florida Veg Fest this Saturday at 11 a.m. at Orlando Festival Park:
Aging with Compassion and Purpose: a talk + live cooking demo on aging well and staying true to vegan values. π± π

Thank you!
So this is 60.
I spent the past year preparing. Not just for a birthday, but for the next chapter.
The final post in my 6-part series "What I Learned on the Way to 60" is live, with links to each reflection + a simple list of actions as you navigate a milestone or reset.

Dave outdid himself with this one. Gluten-free and vegan, itβs a sausage pie with pesto (instead of tomatoes sauce).

Small changes add up to produce real impact. Shifting towards a vegan lifestyle just means looking for better options whenever you can.
Cows, cooking, and compassion β¦ Iβm bringing all three to COW FEST! π
September 27 & 28 at Ashaβs Farm Sanctuary in New York join me for cooking demos + wellness strategies to create your personal toolkit for self-compassion.

First gluten-free sourdough loaf. Short and squat: just what I would expect of GF bread. π€£
Iβm transitioning part of my sourdough starter to gluten-free so that I have baking options. Salty Sue, the FL starter I created last summer, now has a GF offspring: Meet Suki!
Batch cooking day!
A variation of the Collard Greens & Beans one-sheet dinner from my book Fast & Easy Vegan.
This time: collards, yellow peppers, pinto and black beans. Big flavor, one pan, minimal cleanup.

Just devoured an incredible meal at Kale CafΓ© Vegan Kitchen in Daytona β¦ too good to pause for a photo! Their house-made seitan is phenomenal: flavorful and tender, and packed with soul. If youβre anywhere near the area, donβt miss this gem!π± #Vegan #DaytonaBeach
Had no idea! Just texted!
Contract was ending Friday. Said what he wanted to say. Didnβt lose a contract, just didnβt get a renewed one. Sounds like he chose how to leave with a mic drop. Good for him!

Happy accident in the kitchen today and my lentil soup game is forever changed. Discovered I only had 1/4 cup brown lentils. Found 1/3 cup of red lentils and about 1/3 cup of split peas. I added them all to the Instant Pot with vegetable broth, water, tomato, carrot, mushrooms, and onion. So creamy.
This week in my e-news Plant-Based Cooking Confidence series I shared tips on roasting and included a chart + a recipe from my book Fast & Easy Vegan: Roasted Japanese Yams & Tempeh. Chart and recipe on my site (link in bio).

Years ago after hearing about Baltimoreβs Vegan Restaurant Week, I decided to start one in Colorado Springs. It went on for many years and grew from 7 restaurants to over 30! Itβs such an amazing community event. Love seeing them pop up. Hereβs one in Pittsburgh!
