Searching for the 2019 restore button. Enjoying vicarious travel with #landscapephotography photos. Toxicologist. Covid informed. Looking on in horror at the climate emergency and the rise of fascism and hate. π

βRepeated shocks like this push countries to reassess what energy security really means. Wind, solar, storage, and, where available, hydro are not immune to operational challenges. they increasingly look less like a climate choice and more like a stability strategy.β
Our eyes don't lie.
Resorting to brutal and unnecessary physical violence against peaceful protests is wrong.
And who put the police in this allegedly 'impossible situation'?
Don't gaslight Australia. We're not the US.
Yet.

bro thereβs a gofundme to crowdfund attorney fees for a preschooler who was kidnapped by our federal government and shipped across state lines and his senator is posting about high school hockey while every other elected official is debating whether to give a zillion more dollars to the kidnappers
Maybe Greenland could invade us instead?
Reading all these mealy-mouthed statements together, there are common themes: 'safety', 'sensitivity' and 'division'.
This is the Israel lobby's script;
hosing down anyone who dares criticize Israel's apartheid, genocide and ethnic cleansing, while pretending it's about Jews under attack. #auspol
The weirdest thing about Americans is how many of them think their laws apply to every person in the world.
But they're certain other countries' laws don't apply to them.
Yet another reason to not go to the US.
My good God, reading about USA politics is both exhausting and scary.
Here in Australia, we should be both alert and alarmed.
Protect our precious and fragile democracy - with its checks and balances- to stop the contagion.
This is American innovation. A country so efficient at war that it can invade a country without needing to leave its own country.
Non American here. So many of us are just sick and tired of Americans and all the bullshit. Yes there are millions of good and decent Americans but some stereotypes exist for a reason. Trump is also a major symptom of the ills of America, not the disease.
So if anti-fascists are Trumpβs political enemies, what does that make Trump?
Live your life in such a way that when you die people aren't ashamed to quote the shit you said.
Itβs taken years for Australia to ban three types of forever chemicals. But Europe plans to ban thousands of these chemicals to avoid future issues.

You open the internet. The government is gutting science and social services to fund a literal masked gestapo. Wars are spiraling out of control. Millions are dying of preventable disease. A woman spent $9M on a wedding dress and [Ctrl-C]

The environment isn't 'an issue'
It is life itself
Today is unfortunately a good reminder of just how depraved many Trump supporters are. It should be the easiest thing in the world to just wish someone well in light of a devastating health diagnosis. That they can't even meet that very low bar says a lot about their character.

Tim Wilson will be a clear and constant reminder of why so many of us don't vote for the Liberal Party #auspol

Some mainstream journos are also shining a light on #AtlasNetwork. But many are still too timid, lazy or complicit to highlight the truth behind Dutton's culture wars. #ausvotes #auspol
Bridget McKenzie canβt help but laugh at the proposition of emissions going down under the LNP.
David Speers, βis there anything you would do to bring down emissions in the next 10 years?β

Opposition Leader Peter Dutton says the Coalition βgot it wrongβ with its now-dumped policy to require all federal public servants to return to the office
A promise to cut 41,000 Canberra-based public service jobs through forced redundancies has also been walked back
First stage capitalism lie: more stuff makes life good. ($$)
Second stage capitalism lie: stuff doesn't make you happy, but experiences (travel and events) to make memories will ($$$$)
Reality: a good life comes from surrounding yourself with kind and principled people instead of assholes.
