I also find them time-consuming and overwhelming if you actually decorate and do everything with your own vision. And Pokémon Pokopia even more so in the beginning.
But if you just do the main story and follow the tasks I think that in its own right is a satisfying experience that’s manageable!
Honestly I think they’re quite different anyways. Pokopia is more quickly paced and very heavy on tasks with more unique tasks to do. (I also love Animal Crossing for the record, probably my favorite franchise)
So it’s mostly I’d recommend if you like very cute Pokémon and completing lots of tasks!
