It is outrageous that Avanti continues to intentionally run down our booking office at Manchester Piccadilly and across their network, by refusing to fill vacancies. This is an attack on accessibility purely motivated by profit.

A adaptation of the old National Union of Railwaymen logo, NUR across the centre, over a globe coloured to those colours of the pride flags, around this is written 'National Union of Railwaythem'
Solidarity with the trans and non-binary community.
@rmtunion.bsky.social policy is unequivocal in its support for all our trans and non-binary members and their right to gender identity.
All the best to Mick in retirement, he'll forever be remembered by our members for how he calmly handled the media and defended the workers during the national dispute, calmly, effectively and with good humour. Now it is time to prepare for the future.
Solidarity with our TM members on Avanti who were bringing the year to a close striking for a fair rest day working settlement. โ๏ธ

Just found out that this legend of the Labour movement Mike Harrison is no longer with us. Unfortunately it was a while ago, so never got to attend his funeral. I started on the Railway the same day as Mike in 1980. One of the Piccadilly 4 Union reps sacked at Man Picc. RIP Comrade.โ

This is all from the University of Warwick's online library/archive on the NUR. Really great if you're interested in the history of our union.
The President's New Year message for 1948 included the appeal for members to ""Take off your coat, roll up your sleeves" and give of your best, in whatever capacity you may be engaged" in order to "make Public Ownership a success".
A steam loco emerging through rubble toward a flag with 'British Railway' written on it.
As Passenger Railway Services (Public Ownership) Bill receives Royal Assent, here is a little cartoon from the NUR's Railway Review in 1948, celebrating 'the biggest event in British Railway history'...
Can confirm this is very enjoyable and interesting.
Especially this one of our NEC member posing like a stockphoto of a tradesman
