#ShowMeYourKnits week 22: year-end edition. FAVOURITE knit from this year π§Ά
Even though I make Crocheted amigurumis all the time, I didnt think I would be able to knit one. Love this one and his calming presence around me. π₯°β₯οΈ
π§Ά #knitting - Every time I block a lace shawl, I usually end up saying "I won't do this again anytime soon". But then I see something glorious and jump right into the same pit again. Regrowth is growing quite big and makes me worry about how I am going to block it.π¬
Anyway, we are leafing

Fascinating essay by @kikumbhar.bsky.social
Should be on your weekend reading list.

Requesting folks to check out the website "University of History". My attempt - just one among many others by so many good folks - to serve as a helpful guide to how scholarly historians think, analyse and write. Here's a recent article from there: historyprofessor.in/2024/12/27/h...
A couple of years ago I worked on a story which I really loved.
Unfortunately, the magazine it was written for went defunct and I was never able to share it. Have finally gotten around to doing so now.

Best wishes to everyone in the land of overwhelm.
Pet a dog, notice a bird, use your phone to take a photo.
Accept your helplessness and let it pass through you. There is lightness in acceptance.
True compassion is the hardest thing to embody, but once you do it, it is the ultimate liberator. I walk lighter, when I am not bogged down by the heaviness of anger and jealousy..when I see that the other hurts too, not just me.
First post has to count⦠my new essay on turning forty! Do read whoever sees this oh blue skies!

Earnest post, but: a thing I like here is itβs okay to have moments of happiness in public without being broadly scolded, and I believe that sustaining this kind of humanity will be very important as we resist fascism.
We have to sustain each other. Making joy isnβt denial, itβs how we will survive
You can be very good at doing things that are very hard for you to do.
Conventional understanding tells us the opposite - If itβs hard for you, it must be that you are no good at it. Erase this.
Balance self-care and rest with talents that ask for expression.

Have you tried reading essays backwards?
When Iβm interested in something but the craft or structure doesnβt grip my attention, I find myself reading the essay from bottom to top.
Itβs very entertaining and I get exactly what I need from it.
Yes! Wonderful to hear from you, Josh
Loved doing this interview with @aswritingsaves.bsky.social! The article is behind a paywall, so Iβll post some screenshots of my answer to the question βFaithfulness or liberty, what should be a translator's north star?β Belowβ¦
Iβve decided to indefinitely extend FREE online viewing of #FinalSolution, my film on #2002GujaratRiots, and the rise of Narendra Modi, now the Prime Minister of India.

RAYMOND CARVER HAPPINESS So early it's still almost dark out. I'm near the window with coffee, and the usual early morning stuff that passes for thought. When I see the boy and his friend walking up the road to deliver the newspaper. They have on caps and sweaters, and the one boy has a bag over his shoulder. They are so happy they aren't saying anything, these boys. I think if they could, they would take each other's arm. It's early in the morning, and they are doing this thing together. They come on, slowly. The sky is taking on light, though the moon still hangs palely over the water. Such beauty that for a minute death and ambition, even love doesn't enter into this. Happiness. It comes on unexpectedly. And goes beyond, really, any early morning talk about it.

Everything I love overwhelms me.
I wonβt step back from love. I will allow myself to rest. Being sensitive is a strength.
It does, Kat, it does!
What a high, to find nilanjanaroy.bsky.social and rahulabhatia.bsky.social on this year-end list (And that friends should share space in this way.) #BlackRiver #TheIdentityProject

Have you written anything strange recently?
You must! Read strange things. Write stranger ones.
Strange is an invitation to follow the path less trodden. A search for something lost, undiscovered. A foray into the mystery and magic of our rich inner world.
Bahadur, the cat recommends it.
π§Ά #crochet Just wondering Obsessive Compulsive #Amigurumi making is a thing π¬ Thank you @plainparanoid.bsky.social for indulging me by finding a similar pattern. Today has been good. Got two orders. Otherwise November was quite dry.π€
