I think this is just one aspect of why Pride and Prejudice is a great romance novel vs that uhhhhh.... other one, because the romance is actually written with depth and understanding to it!! that's literally the basics of a good romance!!
to always be perfect? GOSH no!!
Vs when you look at Pride and Prejudice, Mr. Darcy, admittedly. does not put Elizabeth on a pedestal but simply admires her strengths while acknowledging her weaknesses.
tbh, as a woman, I would much rather not be placed on a pedestal in a romance. that's too much pressure and such high stakes!!

We found that the characters, particularly the male lead in this pumpkin romance, was putting the female lead on a pedestal.
