Research at risk: Life-saving heart pumps for babies | Cornell Chronicle After receiving a stop-work order from the federal government, the future of a device to help children with heart defects is uncertain.

One of grants frozen at Cornell: $6.7M (4 yrs) to develop heart pumps for babies born w/ heart defects.

It took decades of work to get to point of prepping device for in-human clinical trials. No private company could do this.

The cruelty of the Trump administration is heartbreaking. So to speak.

No, but I love that paper!

The graph is from a working paper with Aharon Mohliver: papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers....

Super interestingβ€”I’d love to explore the spillover of Obama’s DEI executive orders to private firms. Would be fascinating to compare that with Trump’s reversals.

Would the rapid adoption of DEI initiatives also suggest decoupling?

If you graph DEI hiring (e.g., diversity managers) in SP500 and Fortune 500 firms before and after George Floyd’s murder you see a huge spike. Curious if these are the same firms now rolling back?
