FYI for fellow narrative designers/game writers: the studio in question is Sentona Games and it’s my understanding they are currently interviewing to replace me. Be very careful with them. They were very nice to me and easy to work with right up until I needed the money I was promised.

Agreed! I know I'm funny and charismatic but the pressure to keep that rolling out constantly while still creating games is annoying. And yet, I'm seeing major companies start to weigh people's social media influence before hiring them for projects.

I do want to address the tonal shift from pre-6th Season DS9 Star Trek to the rest of the series which was that before that season fleets were not very large and consisted of dozens of ships as opposed to the hundreds/thousands in the Dominion War. That was a stylistic shift.
the Cardassian Union may have been behind Starfleet with technology, but not by very much. With the Federation's forces spread so thin, a focused aggressor could have been challenging to contain and overcome. The Union also had formidable armies in the form of the Orders, which were self contained.
Yes, Tallarian cruisers are shown to be drastically inferior to Starfleet. But that just means in space the Federation has superiority. Its shown that the Tallarians have formidable ground forces, so once they manage to make planetfall they can wage ground combat which the Fed wasn't known for.
