Confidence boosts, every day, from never ever second guessing anything. Ever. At all.
Had a chat with someone else on the same professional doctorate program, along the lines of.... we have 4 more years. In 4 years, I will be 55. I will either be 55 with a Dr or 55 without. Guess which one I prefer?
Took me a minute to find time to read it, but thx for the recommendation. I am loving it!!
This was incredible. Thank you!
Well done and hope you are okay.
E. All of the above
It's okay for us to enjoy things you don't like.
I have been a Trek fan for 40+ years and am neither an adolescent nor a guy nor living in a basement. I will give this a chance. And maybe it won't be perfect, but I still want to live in that world. <3
Oh. Very sad to learn of Nitama's passing though...
Excellent.
We saw two of Tama's successors in August 2024.
They worked very hard โค๏ธ
Just bought it!
The best sci-fi I have ever read. Feels like it's time for another re-read.
I can still remember the cover of my sisters paperback of It (the paper boat and sewer grate, with a hand coming out). I read and re-read It, and watched the miniseries as a teen.
Last night, watching ep 6, I was so scared by Pennywise that my toes actually curled up.
Thx for the trauma Mr King ๐คฃ
Oh always always hate that trope!
Can't wait to take some time to savour this.
Really enjoyed listening to you both! I came for the Star Trek and stayed for the new ideas, media, and great chats. โค๏ธ
I was at my Costco (in China) the other day. As you can imagine, they also cater to a certain population. ๐
On the other hand, I love being able to buy Canadian products, and Kirkland branded stuff too.
Thx for reminding me that I need to rediscover Andrew Miller.
Enjoyed some of his books a few years back. Need to re-read and see what I have missed.
45 years ago, I wore my WW costume in my community's Halloween parade. ๐
Excited about the online launch for the St Andrews Journal of International and Language Education (SAJILE) on November 26th 10:30am (UK). Do register and come along!

*Othman (Apologies! Autocorrect!)
I was fortunate enough to be in the audience at AsiaTEFL in Hong Kong in July when Osman Barnawi gave his plenary talk on this.
I hope my university library has this book.
Happy Halloween! We just watched episode 1 and super impressed!! Excellent classic horror. When Mr King says, "I'm gonna scare the hell out of you"... you just accept it. ๐คฃ
This was scary.
Thank you for giving me the perfect arguments to use against anyone who decides this is a good idea!
Thank you for posting this.
It was a year of research and writing well-spent. I sincerely hope that anyone involved in CPD, whether inside or outside of China, will find some inspiration โ๏ธ
I watched it arrive % by % this morning on my kindle. What a treat to get a new @kyliu99.bsky.social AND a new @aptshadow.bsky.social in the same week!
This was such a treat!
Never realized how much I needed to learn about fungi!
We do have 'citation boot camp': foundation academic English courses. Problem is, they are usually only for 'international' students. And they are the programmes that were cut last year.
Very problematic that we assume all domestic students can cite.
ALL students need lessons in academic writing.
The Chinese sci-fi writer?
Oh! A core memory!
Nitter Pitter ... ended with an odd poem?
Well deserved!
Jane Goodall taught us we could position ourselves closer to our research context, and write the results so that the general public (rather than only academics) could understand it. She was criticized for this at first (alongside the shock that she was a woman and young and blonde....).
