I've joked with some folks before that the implosion of the Neopets RPG is their chance to step up and take a shot at it, but it seems like there really IS an opening now since John Taylor of Geekify has been sent to whatever the Neopets equivalent of the Phantom Zone is

To be clear, while neopets should not be held accountable for these refunds or the actions of geekify and the resultant failure of the ttrpg, they are on the hook for working with geekify at all. The quality of their neopets merch and the shipping and customer service thereof has always been poor

The best anyone can hope for at this point is that the complete lack of ndas mentioned by ex members of this project means someone spills the beans and we get a look at what the mysterious "full document" they keep swearing exists is like. That work most likely cannot be repurposed for a new book.

I personally doubt the funds exist anymore. Its been over a year since the kickstarter ended, and while the amount and quality of paychecks to contractors is questionable, people on the project have been receiving their payments from those funds. Its most likely all gone.

Im afraid those refunds may not be paid for by John Taylor of Geekify.

Maybe the wildest thing here is the idea that there are (or were I guess) 1000 pages of Neopets RPG material in the oven. A thousand pages! That's a lot!

John Taylor of Geekify claimed he was "blindsided" by this decision and locked most of the backer Discord server within the hour. He was telling backers as recently as three days ago that work was continuing and that there was over 1,000 pages of material TNT and backers hadn't seen.

The Neopets team posted an update just after midnight terminating all licensing agreements with Geekify, directing backers of the TTRPG to Geekify for refunds, and leaving the door open to someone else making them a licensed TTRPG someday.

maybe the funniest thing about the Neopets TTRPG debacle is that i can think of at least twelve designers off the top of my head who could have a playable draft of an incredible Neopets TTRPG done by next month

Ive seen the ALPHA playtest document from when they initially had a single closed playtest among discord members in October of 25. It was just the Beta document but Less. If a larger wip exists, its the only thing they've truly kept under lock and key.
