The lizard's teacher tugged her bottoms back into place with a patient smile and a wink before helping her off the changing table. "All done! I think your friends are waiting for you in the yard."
"Just remember!" Her teacher said with a priestess' smile. "Return with the fading of the runes."
With great care, the priestess cleansed her dragon and annointed her with scented oils and arcane powders of warding. She wove a new magic thick around her and anchored it at her hips with talismans of binding; a new seal for a new cycle which would itself soon be renewed.
"...Can you fix it?"
"I can indeed."
The priestess—her oracle delivered—smiled and lifted her dragon atop the altar to lay in ritual repose as she performed the rites. One by one, she released the seals and cast the old magic to the depths where it would safely disperse back into the great cycle.
The priestess smiled at her little dragon, guiding her toward the altar. "It is not a weakness but a law of cycles, dear one. Like that of sun and moon, or the seasons which fade from one to the next, the seals binding this magic to you must be unbound and reinvigorated, lest catastrophe strike."
The smaller figure stared in confusion as the larger continued, with a gentle poke at the swollen softness and the faded, blurred ink. "This magic has long held, but now it weakens, and threatens to fail. Even the fiercest dragon sheds its scales; shall we renew this enchantment as well?"
The small lizard presented herself to her teacher, confident that the padded armor on her scales—despite the thick, warm evidence to the contrary—would pass her inspection. Kneeling before her, the adult carefully unbuttoned her bottoms and smiled gently. "Ah, you see? The runes never lie."

Between a loose clutter of colorfully completed schoolwork pages and a tamagotchi—currently blinking needily & making an itty bitty hungry roar as it briefly illuminates the space—a little zip pouch filled with a compass, ruler, square etc, all in the shapes of variety of prismatic plastic dragons
Most of the oddly shaped erasers are less ground down, due to smearing and smudging, but the most interesting and eye-catching ones nonetheless have a special place on the pencil rail—the ones shaped like yummy little treats have more chew marks and experimental little nibbles taken out of them...

Here's a cute little fact too!! I have a set of jammies these are based on! They're really worn down now, but I love them to bits and that kind of striped pattern has always been really special to me—it reminds me of the pet cat I had when I was very little :>

Even if the audience doesn't yet exist, I always think it makes sense to try to interpret them or at least vent, if only to yourself or in a journal!

It's a good combo... A while back I got held down, snarled at, & chomped on the neck by a pile of padded critters until I passed out from fear+sensation, then woke back up cycling between giggling & sobbing and it's so hard to explain the feeling & how it affected me ✨
Yeah... It's hard! Personally, I love the idea of it, but I always want to make characters with big personal conflicts and defects, and the stories my DMs wanted to play were very much not about that x)
