As someone who grew up in London: crossing the road meant walking between slow moving cars.

London now is much better re: pollution. Why anyone would drive a car, I have no idea. Best public transport system by far.

9m population + 1.1m commuters + 100k tourists. You can’t make that run off cars

Winston Churchill died many years ago, and so hasn’t really done much of note recently.

Whereas beavers are alive now, are very industrious, and don’t even ask for a pay packet.

There’s nothing more British than unpaid workers being given a token gesture by the public imo. I vote for beavers!

Reaching net zero by 2050 β€˜cheaper for UK than one fossil fuel crisis’ Climate change committee finds move to renewable energy would also bring health, economic and security benefits Achieving the UK’s net zero target by 2050 will cost less than a single oil shock and bring health and economic benefits while insulating the country against future costs, the government’s climate advisers have forecast. Eliminating the UK’s reliance on fossil fuels by adopting renewable energy and green technologies, such as electric vehicles and heat pumps, would be the best and most cost-effective option for the future economy, the Climate Change Committee (CCC) found. This is a thing in the UK where moving a single penny into a higher tax bracket (Β£100k) will completely remove qualification for 30hrs per week free childcare for pre-school children and tax free childcare for all children up to Β£2000 per year per child.
