While the poem was done last year by Christmas, the illustration took me, appropriately, 1 year and a day to finish. I promised myself I would get it done by New Year's, and hereon December 31st, I have kept that promise by the skin of my teeth.

And with that, a happy New Year! Don't get beheaded!

Know where your ideas come from. Look into where your country thinks Ethics comes from. Check which of the standard-issue philosophers were A) oops! eugenicists! B) how much of their body of work is influenced by 18th-19th century emergent pseudoscience C) how their ideas have been propagated since.

Philosophy gets a bad rap for being a useless subject bcs it tends to be taught uncritically without ever touching on how it intersects with power and dominant social narratives, without meaningful examination or rebuttal.

Remembering the time when a gen z artist i follow was like "i don't understand the point of opening a print store; why wouldn't you just print out something i post to bsky for free if you like it that much"

Of course, a 30-year-old show built largely around the message "AI sucks and humans should do stuff themselves, it's better to fail with integrity than sell your soul for material success" couldn't possibly have any relevance to modern society. But the robots are cool.
