Based on their profiles, one might at first think that these six Bluesky accounts belong to activist groups on a mission to defend democracy, or something of that sort.
In reality, they're just reply spammers responding to random posts from liberal accounts with unsolicited AI-generated replies.
Two years ago, I marveled at how easy it was to get travel info about esoteric towns via the internet. So much useful UGC. This time, itβs been hell. Search returns AI bullshit, outdated reddit content, trip advisor spam, and gobs of autogenerated crap. Finding accurate info is impossible. Le sigh.
Twitter didn't gain relevance by being the biggest platform, it gained relevancy through the quality of the content and individuals. The main goal for everyone here should be to encourage global defender, media, and establishment accounts to transition to #BlueSky. That'll provide legitimacy.

Excited to share that my gossamer worm photo won the Best Image Award at the 5th Marine Imaging Workshop in Monterey!
Many thanks to the wonderful folks at MBARI on the local organizing committee, the wider MIW community, and Boxfish Robotics for sponsoring the competition.

Once upon a time, the ever-evolving graffiti on this reservoir near the psych unit was a cave-painting-record. I photographed much of it over months.
One day they painted it grey. The next day:

AI image synthesis is inherently wasteful. As we all know but often ignore, anything called AI today consumes enormous energy resources and computing power. Also, it relies on the mass exploitation of human labor on a planetary scale. But thereβs more to it β¦

Another basic income pilot focused on homelessness has released preliminary results after only 6 months because halfway through the experiment, it is already showing incredible effectiveness.
$750/mo for 6 months led to homelessness dropping to 12% versus 23% in the control group on a wait list.
