I'm sorry, /what??/
I'm sorry, /what??/
Nothing worse than an intermittent fault which buggers off while you're asleep and makes you look like a prat in front of the engineer. Grr.
Also kinda funny to be rubberducking ideas for why it might be dropping out and REIN comes up. "Wait, isn't fibre optical?" / "Oh yeah".
Good morning :) Glad you're still around. Hope my rapid-fire "here's what I know" and quoting from the PPPD log wasn't too rough for 9am :)
First they came for the trade unionists, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist...
Hopefully if Microslop and their mates stop buying up all the RAM and disks...
Good start to the morning. And then I got off the phone and looked at the name on the TT.
"wait, is that ... ?"
I'm just an excited onlooker, but I'm really liking how the book is topping the charts in several categories today.
Remember the age verification in Leisure Suit Larry? We should just do that.
No, I don't want to "download the Shop app to track your order".
You sent me an email, just put the fucking tracking number in that.
Gemini being confidently wrong.
I just experienced this from Gemini - I asked it about a picture, it said it was by an artist called "Peter Bone", which when I told it it was wrong and it said "To be direct with you: The name 'Peter Bone' isn't even a real artist in this style. I hallucinated that name."
CHECK ALL "AI" OUTPUT.
3 more days!
Hopefully with McSweeney gone, they'll stop trying to repeat what got Tonty Bliar into power, and realise the world's changed. They've got enough time to turn it around if they want to.
I'd certainly like to see some hope and uplift from them, right now I'm getting it from a local Green councillor!
Realistically Burnham would have had to step down as mayor to run, and I can see that ending with the loss of an MP's seat and the loss of someone who seems to be a pretty well-liked mayor and has pushed through some good policies.
I used to call LDs "tory lite", it's a shame LAB decided to be that.

Yeah, it's a pain to adjust. You need a long nylon screwdriver to tweak it.
The LCCD4 (Series 4) chassis in the '4F series Cubs has a combined high-voltage transformer and tripler and the screen and focus knobs peek out the back of the chassis.
If it's a US con I'd expect firearms and easy access to explosives precursors would be on the risk assessment.
The million dollar question is how likely that is? It's hard to tell at the best of times. I'm just glad it's a much lower risk in Europe and the UK.
TFW your special guest becomes a cyber bullying victim, and you decide to throw them under the bus instead of helping them.
Sadly it feels like the days of a chill event run by someone who was part of the community and invested in its success and safety have been and gone :(
I want to be upset & rage about this. The con is in my back yard and I was hoping to make it a staple but I think it bears a reminder.
Cons are not your friends.
They are businesses that run off corporate frameworks. They must make money to survive. They will cut any risk to that, including you.
Maybe making it their entire existence is part of the issue, hmm.
One of the worst things about the scandals over the years is how that side of the internet got blown right into the mainstream, along with names of the sites and the dogwhistle words. Content like that isn't far off a cognitohazard.
Saying that better: I think there's definitely a "this is cool now" aspect and another that's a promise of easy fame with a fursuit, a camera, a friend and a couple of con tickets.
It's going to attract people with less-than-great tendencies. Wolves don't hunt sheep in empty fields.
I wouldn't say "normal". They're self-centred, maladjusted, narcissistic, and hell-bent on burning the earth so they can rule the ashes. If that was the average, society would collapse in maybe a fortnight, tops.
Anyone can start a witch hunt but they all run out of witches eventually...
That stuff's been happening since the 2010s, at least over here. Twitter got popular, furries did the "follow all furries" thing, and followers was the currency.
I don't think any of the kids you mention had what I and maybe you had - someone to tell us what the space is and what it's about.
I fear their lust for hate will poison the thing they claim to love.
I think some people forget that we evolved necks and eye muscles so w can turn our heads and eyes and look at something else!
Maybe I'm wrong but I don't think there's any "appeal to normies" end goal. I think it's just someone who wants to be shitty to someone else and found a way to groom young, impressionable people into jumping on the bandwagon.
I think it's a power play by someone who sees themselves as a cult leader.
