The cover to Half a War by Joe Abercrombie
Book 12 of #adamreads2026 down - Half a War, by Joe Abercrombie, finishing off the Shattered Sea trilogy in blood and fire. A great conclusion to a great story. I still think I prefer the First Law trilogy over this, but it's still a belting read, gripping from start to finish. Loved it!

@tammi.bsky.social Finally got chance to read The Library #1 and it was bloody brilliant! I especially love Rook π
Thank you so much for letting me read it!
I promised @gregjenner.bsky.social I'd share a bit more about John Hodgson the 173-page footnote guy.
Let's start with a note her wrote to himself while dying:
"I have raised persons and families from oblivion, while the genealogies of the great interest myself no more than those of the poor." /1π§΅
This one in particular goes so hard, I love it!
Yeah, that's brilliant!
They say it's the hope that kills you.
Maybe it would. Hope killing you doesn't sound so bad, in the grand scheme of things. Better than despair. Better than disappointment - and disappointment was a regular caller I knew all too well.
That delivery was never coming.
This week on the Untitled History Podcast:
In 1901 Colonel Alfred Redl became head of counter-espionage at the Austro-Hungarian Evidenzbureau.
What nobody knew was that Redl was a Russian Spy.

What happened is I mentioned this absurd idea to a BBC producer and now I am writing an afternoon play for Radio 4 called THE CALL OF CTHUDO, to be recorded sometime in June with (ideally) various Green Wing alumni doing their best 1930's detective voices.
Hi, I'd like to invite you to my Β£0 BlueSky GM course:

Tchaikovsky would be hard pressed to find a better-fitted crew for this mission than the RRD folks. Solid choice, and an amazing series of books if you haven't gotten into reading them yet.

DM/GMs - what do you do when the players destroy a key plot thread?
We call this a "Jessica Ryder moment", after the time our gang accidentally killed a key NPC (hear the full story here π§π²π)

Jocelyn the halfling, one of only a few recent commissions not for commercial use. This marker style is rapidly becoming my favorite way to do characters.
My halfling, in fact! She's got some shit to work through...
Beautiful work as always from Izzy!

Whatβs your go-to βcomfort fictionβ?
My monthly newsletter includes a Comfort Fiction section and Iβm always looking for things to include π alexmorrison.co.uk/newsletter/
The Wayfarers series by Becky Chambers. It's really not my usual sort of books but they're beautiful and human and kind. Also, pretty much any Discworld but especially the Death and Guards series. Lastly, Legend by David Gemmell, the book that started my love of fantasy. All time fave.
