I understand your point, but most pumpkins WILL last until Christmas, if you don’t carve them. You can make pumpkin pie from scratch in December, and it’s not that hard.
Stranger Things S05E03 features a Sugar Cream Pie. That might be the show’s most specific reference to Indiana’s surprisingly great food culture ever. The pie is delicious, and it’s my favorite cameo. Nutmeg and the “secret ingredient” probably aren’t necessary, though.

Definitely scary… that tree and the clown doll alone would have made it worthwhile. However, the social commentary is pretty great and shows how much you can get away with if it’s “just” a horror movie.
