Jeff Mills last night... holy cow. Not going to name any names but I've seen a lot of legendary DJs before and have been left disappointed but that was everything I hoped it would be. Easily in the top 5 nights I've gone to SmartBar.
I might be interested if you still have it

Re-listened to the album "Krush" by DJ Krush and the Acid Jazzy vibes of it really vibed with me more than previous listens. Really nice album. The track "On The Dub-ble" will always be the best cut from it though and one of my favorite DJ Krush beats in general.

The Krautrock-esque freak out at the 8 minute mark is so unlike anything else The Orb has done but it remains one of the best moments in their entire discography. Orbus Terrarum is a masterpiece.

Street Fighter EX3 (2000 | Arika | PS2) also celebrates it's 25th birthday in Japan today. It's a frankly insane interpretation of Street Fighter with four person battles, a cast of bizarre original characters, and incredible win screens.
Gundam 0080 episode 5: Police detectives investigate the wreckage of the Kampfer.
Gundam 0080 episode 3: Federation engineers assembling the RX-78NT-1 'Alex' in secret.
Gundam 0080 episode 3: mistaking him for a burglar, Chris Mackenzie cracks Bernie over the head with a baseball bat.
Gundam 0080 episode 3: inside a police station on Libot / Ribot colony.
Let's stitch together some panning shots from Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket! (and check out the ones @sundownmcmoon.bsky.social has been posting from Zeta Gundam).
This one from episode 6 is probably the most memorable in the whole OVA
Eventually I'm going to be as obsessed with Susumu Hirasawa as I am Ryuichi Sakamoto and Haruomi Hosono. The four P-Model albums I've heard so far are all so weird and cool.
My roommate left the TV on the Baywatch Channel and my cat has been sitting like this watching it all day
Crazy that Ryuichi Sakamoto's dad was an editor for Yukio Mishima
One of the coolest appeals of 3D animation is its ability to evoke the uncanny or liminal. There's something so surreal and dreamlike about older cgi renders.
Kind of limiting to the imagination of what you could achieve with 3D animation that one of the go to examples of a really great looking 3D animated film is that it has a lot of charm of 2D animation.
Call me a hater but my issue with the Spiderverse style is that you spend so much time trying to make 3D animation look like a comic when you could just, draw it? Like ok it's cool that the tech can pull off the look of a comic but the appeal of such a feat borders on tech fetishism.
