Big day today! Submitted my PhD thesis, marking the end of four years of work. One of my lab colleagues made me an adorable C. elegans as a congratulations gift (look at the smile on its face!)

I'm almost a month late with posting this, but I had an absolutely fantastic time at the Epigenetics GRC in Barcelona. The conference fostered a wonderfully supportive environment and I was honoured to win one of the poster awards. The beach views from the venue weren't bad either ๐
I was also able to see some of the sights in the city and around the North Island, including walking the summit + lava caves of Rangitoto Island, being amazed by the works at the Art Gallery, visiting the Hobbiton movie set and trying out indoor skiing! ๐
And so concludes an amazing week spent in Auckland, my first time "crossing the ditch" from Australia to NZ! I was very happy to have the opportunity to present my work at #GSA2025 and also see many other impressive presentations of genetics and genomics research.
Excited for a week of science at #GSA2025! Have been having a lovely time in Auckland so far and ready to see some cool genetics research over the next few days ๐
Huge thanks to my supervisor Alyson for the opportunity to collaborate on this!
Excited to share "Epigenetics and Evolution" - a new entry in @oxfordacademic.bsky.social Oxford Bibliographies in Evolutionary Biology published recently: doi.org/10.1093/obo/...
We hope it proves a useful resource to learn more about epigenetics and its involvement in evolution!
Thank you!
Had a great experience speaking at #LorneGenome25 - it was my third year attending the conference and it's always something I look forward to each year. Such a welcoming community and so much amazing science! ๐
Excited for another year at #LorneGenome! Always enjoy the views on the bus down from Melbourne ๐
