Wow, sure would be pretty crazy if a ton of experts in the artificial intelligence field relentlessly warned everyone about this state of affairs being inevitable over and over for years.

That’s interesting to know! And yes would be useful context to a story like this.

I have to say, it did seem a bit spurious until I saw his logo and he’s clearly trying to associate with University vibes. But knowing that this is an obligation from them too is important for understanding fully.

Am I right in thinking that the main issue here would be the font and shield he’s using in his logo?

1 - there isn’t enough rooftop in the country to provide what we need
2 - dribs and drabs here and there isn’t effective in the grid
3 - this approach isn’t scalable as fast as we need

Farmland is the best approach - !for now! - that’s why all these projects are 40 year temporary sites

I think it would be really interesting to do some genuinely representative polling of some of the towns and villages near large solar developments. Consultations and campaigns are so naturally self selecting, and you only hear the loudest claiming to speak for “the local people”.

There’s a persistent myth that new solar farms don’t really help tackle climate change because panels are “made with coal” and “never pay back” their carbon debt.

This is simply false.

- UN: solar ~8x cleaner than gas, ~19x than coal per kWh
- panels repay CO2 in 4 months; save 57x over life

WeTransfer just changed their TOS giving themselves permission to train AI on any content you transfer and produce derivative works based on content you transfer that they are allowed to monetize and you are not allowed payment for.

Stop using WeTransfer.

Shopping is such a fascinating and knotty problem - especially given that many ships being delivered today will still be in operation in 2050.

Interested in than projection though. Around 40% current shipping is moving fossil fuels, is that doubling in a Net Zero world?

I'm all for trying to ease intergenerational tensions, but the people who are most opposed to reaching net zero by 2050 are literally those who will not be around to face the consequences.
