In how many other countries is it normal to cheer and make jokes if someone drops a plate?
Australia?

That EEF report positioning TAs as high cost:low impact has done a lot of damage to their standing. It's the most underpaid and undervalued role in education imho.
And there are dozens of other examples I could refer to that people outside of the profession wouldn't understand.
I've got a really nice class but the girls are the most "Year Sixy" girls you're ever likely to meet. Sometimes stuff happens at break or lunch which means they're just not in the mindset to learn. Having a TA to talk to them or cover the rest of the class while I do so is invaluable.
And by a proper class TA, I mean one that 'belongs' to the whole class rather than only working with a small number of high needs pupils.
Posts like this make me sad. Teaching without a TA on the odd day is hard enough. Not having one at all makes the job near impossible to do well and without causing significant stress.
I wouldn't work at a school that didn't have a proper class TAs for at least 80% of my teaching time.
Another lesson in how not to lead from Igor Tudor.
He'll be spoken about alongside the likes of Frank de Boer and Avram Grant as one of the worst managers ever.
There is absolutely no way Igor Tudor stays until the end of the season. I reckon he'll go tomorrow.
This isn't as depressing as I thought it would be. The season was done a few weeks ago. We've probably got the 3rd, 4th or 5th biggest wage bill in the league and have underperformed massively.

This is an outstanding joke. The best I've heard in years.

It's a not for profit tech organisation that used to supply broadband and hardware but not offers training and edtech bits. Quite popular around here and a few other places like London and Yorkshire.
And then we often do this dumb thing where, when it's clear that something wasn't worth the investment, we try to force teachers to use it anyway to justify the expense and the decision to purchase whatever the shiny thing was.
We get this part wilful delusion, part sunk-cost thing going on.
As a profession, we've wasted so much time, effort and money on bandwagons and silver bullets.
One of my few "beefs" with LGfL is how they enable the "We can't be left behind" mindset in HTs and leaders.
I've been at two separate events where the speakers have created a caricature of a cautious, skeptical teacher who gets mocked.
At the core of any good school is excellent teaching, which requires good behaviour, which needs strong SLT and sytems, but which also requires engagement, which needs a relevant curriculum, which requires subject knowledge, which needs support, but also empathy.
It's not simple.
So unusable that I don't even bother buying their kits anymore and just use Dark Rock's kits in Pinter equipment.
Pinter is a great example of this. They've gone from having exceptional customer service to being next to unusable in the space of around 12 months.
Who is the OP for this? I'm not exactly blocked by a huge number of people and of those who do block me linked to education, I can't guess who'd be writing about that.
Reading comprehension is not a skill. Itβs an outcome of what you know. Strategies plateau. Knowledge compounds.

The biggest reason white kids underperform at school is because white children disproportionately have parents and caregivers with attitudes towards school and education like this.
One of the best things about being an author must be seeing kids dress up as one of your characters for World Book Day.
