I decided to change my #Novel90 project last night 🫣 But I feel really good about the prep work I'm doing.
I'm doing #Novel90! I have a renewed vision for my WIP and I'm ready to dive back in and finish the year with a first draft 🥳
I feel so demoralized and paralyzed about writing and I'm trying to remind myself that slop gets published every day. I wanna be part of the slop pile. I need to make a plan and get back on the horse.
Like a lot of people, I’ve not been buying much from Amazon lately. But I was just talking to an author in the sapphic books subreddit and they were saying their ebook royalties are down 40 percent since the boycott started. Forty percent! This got me reconsidering the boycott strategy. I still plan to get most of my books from Kobo and the library system — but I might go back to KU, since KU’s monthly payment isn’t going to impact Amazon much, but it the lack of it might sink some small, indie, and queer authors.

Many indies ARE now on Itch, Kobo, etc, but many others are locked into KU. The 90 day exclusivity lock is something to bear in mind. It can’t always be FAST.
It’s a hard road to navigate & indies are doing their best to stay afloat while following the readers.

I spent my 20min drive to work workshopping a name for a late-aughts R&Bpop boy duo where the name is an amalgamation of the two artists name and got to work and said "let me write this down" and I wrote down the word "code"

Considering trying out Plottr. Something I used to do and am trying not to do anymore, is thinking that writing tools are a "reward" for being a "real writer."
It took me years to get Scrivener because I thought I had to EARN it. Then I got it without "earning it" and wrote 50k words!
#amwriting finally. A good motivator was I told myself no Sims until I do this writing task.
fun fact: one of my favorite college professors (who i still chat with regularly and am officiating her son's wedding in a couple months because, separately, we're close friends) collects vintage Pyrex and gifted me a gravy bowl two thanksgivings ago
