Nigel Farage sparks more confusion over Reform stance on Iran war
There is about to be a mass disclosure of documents.
Two points
1. Every document has a purpose - the key is to understand why this document came to exist, and in the form that it did.
2. All text has a context - what are extrinsic factors and other texts which give meaning to the text in hand?
FT exclusive:
Lord Peter Mandelson received a severance payment of about £70,000 when he was sacked as Britain’s ambassador to Washington last year, a first wave of files relating to his appointment will show on Wednesday.
(but Mandelson demanded vastly higher payout)

"For your people have corrupted themselves. ... They have made themselves a molten calf, and worshipped it and sacrificed to it, and said, ‘This is your god’" (Exodus 32:7-8).
Spot on. ⬇️
@eddavey.libdems.org.uk: "The leader of the Conservatives has been competing with the HonourableMember for Clacton to be Donald Trump's biggest cheerleader."
I was in a 2 hour briefing today on the Iran War. All the briefings are closed, because Trump can't defend this war in public.
I obviously can't disclose classified info, but you deserve to know how incoherent and incomplete these war plans are.
1/ Here's what I can share:
I had heard some speculation that halting the flow of oil out of Hormuz essentially is the plan. There's been a US oil resurgence and its relatively cheap right now. How do we make it not cheap and soar big oils profits?
4/ Ok, so what ARE the goals? It seems, primarily, destroying lots of missiles and boats and drone factories.
But the question that stumped them: what happens when you stop bombing and they restart production?
They hinted at more bombing. Which is, of course, endless war.
2/ Maybe the lead is that the war goals DO NOT involve destroying Iran's nuclear weapons program. This is, uh...surprising...since Trump says over and over this is a key goal.
But then of course we already know air strikes can't wipe out their nuclear material.
3/ Second, they confirmed "regime change" is also NOT on the list. So, they are going to spend hundreds of billions of your taxpayer dollars, get a whole bunch of Americans killed, and a hardline regime - probably a MORE anti-American hardline regime - will still be in charge.
If a child is encouraged to think objectively about religion in the classroom, that's directly undermined by having them pray at the start of every school day. Assemblies should include all children, regardless of religion or belief background. humanists.uk/2026/03/11/w...
Religion, Values, and Ethics (RVE), at its best, empowers young people to become informed, rational, and empathetic human beings. It invites pupils to explore and critically engage with diverse beliefs and worldviews – including humanism.
Compulsory collective worship serves a different purpose. It presents a single belief as normative and authoritative. It positions itself as devotional, not educational, undermining the aims and objectives of RVE to educate children about, rather than lead them to adopt, particular religions.
People say Trump's climate policies are reckless, but he has done more to cut fossil fuel use than any other president in history
Farage wearing his, 'countryman' outfit today. He has an extensive wardrobe of different cosplay clothes. He's like an actor playing a part for the public. Jendrick ordered about like a pathetic non-entity. 😂
Unlucky Robert. Only room for one...

'Teaching-only staff at Sheffield Hallam University are set to be moved into a subsidiary firm, leaving research intensive scholars the only academics still being employed directly by the institution.'
Utterly inequitable & betrays a fundamental misunderstanding of the teaching/research nexus. 1/3
“The UK's official climate adviser said the cost of meeting net zero is less than A SINGLE (my CAPS) fossil fuel price shock. £4 billion of additional spending per year to 2050 is required to stay on track for net zero, according to the Climate Change Committee.
Someone is panicking
Trump playbook: undermine the opinion polls if they don't favour you.
See also Kishwer Falkner article in Times. Just absolutely shameless, and quite deliberately so.

This is clearly fine with the GOP.
Having 26 representatives of one denomination of one religion, wielding political power simply because they're CofE, is not representative of the country. It's also just deeply unpopular. Any modernisation of the Lords should end this 14th century anachronism. humanists.uk/action/get-b...
The move to remove hereditary peers is welcome. The next step should be to remove the Lords Spiritual. There should be no reserved seats in Parliament for any one religion. It’s time to remove bishops from the House of Lords.

When Robert Jenrick was Housing Minister, he rolled out a “Green Housing Revolution”:

It includes Heat Pumps, reducing fossil fuels, solar, preventing climate change etc.
He’s now pretending he’s Mr Reform anti-Net Zero.
