There is a wealth of bipartisan scholarly literature that goes back decades warning the US against invading Iran. And here we are, on the cusp of invading Iran. None of it mattered.
My understanding is that an amount of chaos and factionalism still exists in Syria and it's difficult to attribute those actions to the new government. I would like to see a less chaotic Syria but that takes time.
Barring some of the violent episodes that have happened early on (and those Israeli strikes) the democracy is still consolidating but itโs a long process.
Trump seems to have largely taken Syria under his wing so maybe they can do that without getting fucked with from now on idk
