Came here to say that. This is absolutely digusting and preoccupying.
What's happening right now within the federal government is nothing short of an earthquake that has left countless federal employees, especially minorities, women, and those with disabilities, reeling. The abrupt dismantling of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives and offices isn't just a bureaucratic reshuffle, it's an assault on the very systems that, for decades, provided marginalized groups with a level playing field and a sense of belonging in federal employment. They have fired people who worked on reasonable accommodations and accessibility needs. They have canceled all diversity initiatives and celebrations of diversity. But it seems like this is just a beginning.
As if things weren't bad enough, Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has started prying into confidential data and operational systems under the guise of rooting out inefficiency. They sent people to the HQ offices. I am on the but I saw them go into executive offices on ordering people around and asking for access to things. This has left many federal workers fearful that their personal data or sensitive agency information could be mishandled or weaponized against them. For those who fought to build careers based on merit, this invasion feels like a violation, undermining years of dedication. It is also crazy that they have access to sensitive programs, systems, and taxpayer info. Why would they need to see all of this? The Inspector General Office and already review on an as needed basis to look for fraud and waste and abuse. If there was any, we would report it to Congress. The only reason it appears they want access is for nefarious or personal reasons. Their claims do not have any merit.

There was an injunction issued by a federal court against DOGE access to Treasury systems but its unclear if that includes Also its kind of too late, they already were able to see all the systems and go through senstive taxpayer info and sensitive programming and confidential things. It is unclear what damage all of this could cause in the wrong hands. It is all unprecedented.
I think the heart of it that bothers me is the psychological conflict between what we control and what we can't. We put our faith in routines, deadlines, hard work, and long-term career trajectories, assuming they'll create stability and add to the greater good. But that faith is being tested now. There's an invisible loss that comes when the public service environment you once found meaning in starts feeling like a source of disorder or authoritarianism. It starts being pointless. It's not just about job security. It's about the erosion of identity, of where you fit within the larger narrative of public service and what value your work has or lacks.

Exclusive: Federal workers have filed an emergency motion requesting a restraining order to disconnect the DOGE server that's being used to conduct Trump's "deferred resignation program." The workers had previously accused DOGE of illegally bypassing a mandated privacy audit.
