Rivkah Brown succinctly breaks down the media's wide misrepresentation of the facts reported on the Peggie v NHS Fife and Upton case and the Kelly v Leonardo tribunal.

𧡠1/? Going through the recording:
6:00 Cass: "there was a fair amount of noise [...] about the fact that I wasn't an expert in this field, but that was a deliberate selection that NHS England made because people who were working in the field were so polarised*"
* read: support trans rights
It is a sign of how fundamentally abused and traumatised trans communities are in the UK that many folks are responding to Levy with relief and cautious welcome.
It could have been a lot worse.
But it fundamentally fails to deliver meaningful improvements to trans healthcare. 1/4
When are we to expect newspaper front-page interview features with Dr. Beth Upton about her two-year ordeal of having her right to anonymity removed and her name dragged through the mud and being decried as a sexual predator only for a tribunal to clear her and find SHE was discriminated against?
In my ten year career i have been offered an opening slot for exactly one cis artist. would love the cis artists on this bill to show some meaningful support by booking us on their tours! I have a long lost of recommendations :p
feels a bit bizarre when the UK music industry isnt doing shit for trans artists, esp trans women. there's an incredibly vibrant scene underground but nobody is breaking through; still zero trans women outside of electronic music signed to merlin or larger labels
it took me finding real life trans community as an adult to stop basically living my entire life in an internet dissociation dopamine spiral but i guess that was the fault of the forums n had nothing at all to do with feeing profoundly alienated from my body n people around me
almost wonder if it was partially motivated by fear of the press n exposure that would have come with the election which tbh is kind of fair
totally perplexed by this decision. apart from it just feeling tactically and politically bizarre I was just so excited to have a historic shot at getting a trans woman into holyrood. classic perfect enemy of the good nonsense
Going to get my NHS HRT renewal today. To do that I'll walk past my GP surgery, get on a train to glasgow, walk through the city centre, meet a pharmacist, get a train back, walk past my GP again, wait for the prescription to come by post, then take it to the pharmacy next to my GP.
New essay: REJECT TRANS DOOM-POSTING.
It's about grief, loss, institutional failures, and the horror of the current moment.
It's also a love letter to trans community, and the things we do with and for one another.
do it! i always also worry about the overwhelm but when you get there nothing beats the magic of seeing ur trans siblings in their thousands
Every trans person I know supported the decriminalisation of abortion.
In contrast plenty of
βfeministβ
βprotecting womenβ
βwomenβs concernsβ
βgender criticalβ
transphobic bigots opposed it.
Transphobes use βwomenβs rightsβ as a cover for transphobia. They donβt care about womenβs rights.
People who abstained from voting to decriminalise abortion:
-Wes Streeting (health secretary)
-Bridget Phillipson (women and equalities minister)
-Rosie Duffield (top feminist and woman defender)
my cursed brain wants a t shirt with that hardcore certified unsafe for women logo on it

THE PAPERS February stats There were 79 different bylines on articles about trans people in the month of February. Between them, they wrote 99 articles, only nine of which you could reasonably argue were βneutralβ, even though they arenβt really. Thatβs an average of 3.5 a day. Between them, Daniel Sanderson, Hayley Dixon and Sanchez Manning wrote 11 articles. There was not one single day in February without an article about trans people.
Itβs so exhausting. The amazing @hleehurley.substack.com tracks media reporting on trans issues the UK. His data really highlight how the mainstream press are constantly banging on about trans folk. For example, in February there were NINETY-NINE articles about trans peopleβan average of 3.5 a day.
I don't want to hear any more mumbling queers performatively distancing themselves from the thing they are demanding my attention for, while taking yet more of my time to do the performative distancing!
yes hate this. its very 2000s I think. straight people recently realised trying is cool and they're right
