Opinion | From Opt-Out to Opt-In: A Dangerous Shift for Abortion Training This proposed change would worsen the maternal health crisis

Anti-abortion advocates are turning attention to altering training requirements for ob/gyn residency programs to make training in abortion care "opt-in" vs "opt-out."

As a result, residency programs may no longer provide training in abortion care or may stop providing abortion care completely

Section 28 didn’t come out of nowhere.
It came from a society where 75% thought homosexuality was wrong.
From a society that feared the sight of a man in drag would corrupt.
From a society that believed ignorance was better for children than any knowledge of gay lives.

Yesterday’s Supreme Court ruling will feel heavy for many of us - especially the trans community.

The mental health toll of public debate, constant scrutiny in the media, and legal decisions like this is profound. For trans people, this isn’t just political or legal. It’s personal. Exhausting. 1/4

I appreciate a 'hosting' style of leadership- where you can tell that thought has been put into creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere, in which people can be at ease. Where this happens, i notice how different & welcome it feels. But generally, we just don't give this kind of stuff enough attention.

A lot of people (self included!) have been deeply trained to not "cause a fuss," to not "act out." To avoid speaking up or taking action. But you can unlearn this.

Every time you take action, it strengthens your resistance muscles. Make a call. Send an email. Put up a flyer. Keep standing up.

Covid-19 – five lessons, five years on | BPS Richard Bentall with advice for psychologists drawn from the work of the Covid-19 Psychological Research Consortium.

5 years after #Covid, we’ve learned key lessons: rapid psychological research is vital, avoid unfounded #mentalhealth claims, peer review can delay essential findings, not everyone reacts the same way, and psychological impact goes beyond mental health. Let’s prepare better for the next crisis.
