Doing mockups for a museum exhibit of models. This will be the Essex class case. Five WW II builds, two Korea and three Vietnam, including all four SCB-27s - original SCB-27, a SCB-27A w/angled deck, SCB-27C with angled deck and SCB-27C/125 - with CV-31 in all three wartime rigs. #HistScaleModels

Was looking for background noise for work today, and found "WWII in Color: Road to Victory" on Netflix.

Unlike alot of episodic docuseries, this one is quite accurate. Very good historians were brought in. Some of the stock footage is wrong, but that is a minor complaint.

Its a good watch!

Including real armor/torpedo defense. Was a huge improvement from the treaty cruisers.

The beam ratio onnthe New Orleans cruisers is so small! I forget how much larger the Baltimores were comparatively.

I also love seeing the silhouette of the Alaskas.

Great find!

Christmas book finds! Barnes and Nobles 25% off sale brought some great new finds. Fighting Fifteen was reccomedned by a podcast, and I read Stille's Midway book and enjoyed his perspective on the battle.

Did yall get anything great this holiday?? #NavalHistory #histbookchat #WW2 #Booksky

Happy New Years to all of you! 2025 was the start of something special, and 2026 is the year we get into the weeds about the big beautiful boats from our past.

Have a family trip this weekend, and then we will be back to posting regularly!

If anyone has any collaborations in mind DMs are open!

I have been trying to find more books specifically about Coral Sea. Do you have any suggestions on books or other easily accessible first hand materials?

Its still a really good read! Some of the info has been outdated, but it still has some great accounts of Dec 7th.

Highly recommended!

From the mouths of the survivors. Force Z is often criticised through cursory analysis. But there is no doubt HMS Repulse was not up to the job. Here's how the sailors who served upon her experienced her demise. #OTD #WW2 #HISTORY #Navalhistory
