Into screenwriting. I write thrillers, often with migration and borders in the mix. 2024 Nicholl Finalist with NO GHOSTS TONIGHT. 2023 Page finalist with DUST ON DIRT. On Scrybe: https://scrybe.to/@adele-smaill

Essential reading. One of the things that defines a government is how it behaves when the spotlight is turned off.

Hey there! I'm mostly thrillers, sometimes lurching towards drama.
You'll find a bunch of screenwriters on the #scriptsky and #scriptskyuk tags/feeds (they pick up anything with the tag), and I think #filmsky is also busy.
I've added you to my Screenwriters list too, which is also a feed.
If I never see that weasel-faced witless wonder again it'll be too soon. Ugh.
Thanks Shore - just sending this to the #scriptlibrary
A cleansing fire is definitely a better metaphor.
They also just don't seem to get that a PhD is supposed to be a contribution to knowledge - not an unsupported inference.
What's weird about it is that all the tech people I know value experiential knowledge - these are more like bad salespeople...
Abolish the Home Office
This is really interesting to me - what are some of the things you see that would be different? Is it things around budget / proliferation of locations?
I'm working with a producer to develop a script at the moment and that + sound design have been things we've talked about so far.
Essential reading. Among those I know who consistently wear respirators, Covid infection counts range between 0 and 1. They work - and you should keep your boosters current too.
Remember all that 'immunity deficit' stuff? Basically, if it sounds comforting, it was probably a lie.
Check out the list, along with my dark thriller REUNIFICATION on #TheStuntList! π #Scriptsky
Congratulations!
Congratulations Taylor!
I seem to have structure on the brain lately, especially when it comes to screenplays. And I think the reason why has something to do with the relationship between expectations and surprise. #scriptsky

N95 + turn on that air filter. My partner had his first cold in years not that long ago. We both masked up and I did not get it.
Have come to the conclusion that so much of the stuff we thought spread by fomite transmission mostly spreads through the air.
It could just be diffs in when we looked - I think the feeds can be quite laggy / not running depending on how busy things are?
On the one hand it would be excellent to see the back of this plane-crash of a Prime Minister, but on the other, if he stays in, National are sure to lose the next election...
Decisions, decisions...
Matt is a great writer and has never been anything but nice to me in our interactions, a person who can offer him nothing but conversations about movies online.
Do younger people know about the huge effort that was put into decreasing the % of smokers. Education campaigns in print, on TV, in schools, new restrictions/enforcement, labeling, a soupçon of public shaming, changes in how smoking was depicted, etc. Might guide us in anti-anti-vax efforts.
Hey Dee - just to say I'm viewing this through the feed, so think it's behaving?
Reminds me a bit of other 'explorers' and 'discoverers' - who might have been the first from their place of origin to fetch up somewhere else, but certainly weren't *the* first.
One of the things I'm really enjoying about Cairn (the game) is it's not-so-subtle (and it doesn't need to be) anti-colonialist take.
As you're doing death-defying climbs up Kami, you pass through villages and schoolrooms - because what's death-defying to you was just 'home' to someone else.
THE TRUMAN SHOW meets 'The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas' in @hamrobotham.bsky.social 's JUST WAIT 'TIL YOU'RE DEAD.
A striking, memorable look at complicity in a town where performing just the right amount of niceness is a matter of life and death. Brilliant stuff!

And ashamed of themselves. I mean - imagine it...
Discovering that you'd brought up a child into an adult who believed that forcing children back into a danger they'd fled and thought they'd escaped was acceptable.
This is Labour doing this. And if one of these children who are being criminalised for in a family seeking protection dies during or after their refoulement - as is likely - their blood will be on Labour's hands.
The parents of the Labour MPs supporting this must be so ashamed of their children.
Graphic showing how asylum policies have shifted from protection to deterrence since the 1980's
The latest announcement from the Home Secretary follows a path of previous governments in creating ever harsher and more hostile asylum policies. What were once designed to provide protection and now created to prevent people getting it. There needs to be a change, with a focus back on protection.
I'm into the first draft of the first gig. It's a bit of a different process than I'm used to (open script and go ;) )- didn't outline with the producer exactly, but worked out what some of the big moments are and talked through practical constraints (esp re. settings).
Good luck with the editing!
At some point, Labour stopped pandering to the far right and just became them. And they wonder why they lost the by-election... (or rather, they don't, because that would involve having some kind of grip on reality and some curiousity about the world).
Are they being lying liars who lie again?
