Much of the commentary over the last week on the Strait of Hormuz has focused on the impact on global oil trade. But blocking this waterway has also stopped supplies of sulphur and sulphuric acid. It's probably not an element you've thought about before, but it's used in fertiliser, semiconductors - the computer chips used in all electronic tech from mobile phones to electric vehicles - nickel refining, and copper smelting (one of the most-used metals in the world).
