the news cycle right now is unbearable. between the abduction & imprisonment of these children and the new wave of revelations about the child fucking elite, i just do not understand. how can you look at a child and feel any of those things. it seems incompatible with what i know about being human.

Reminder that the border is currently defined as a 100 mile from any coastline, and so @schumer.senate.gov and @kirstengillibrand.bsky.social and TONS of other democratic senators are directly throwing their own constituents to the fucking wolves

And if Congress ever legislated on the matter in good faith (I know, I know), it seems obvious that there should be a distinction made between land border areas, rivers, etc. where crossing is a realistic possibility and frickin oceanic coastline.

Have seen a number of people (astutely) post the 100 mile border zone map which rings the country as a refutation of the second idea. But it's worth pointing out that border zone is the creature of regulation and a bad SCOTUS decision; Congress has never actually taken the matter in hand afaik.
