Been doing more in VS Code lately—anyone using Git to manage R scripts? If you write, edit, or run R in VS Code (or another IDE), I’d love to hear how you like it and what your workflow looks like. Let me know if you have any resources, tips, or suggestions!

I was now-years-old the first time I couldn't find an article using google or a university library search engine. I just submitted my first formal article request through the library. How did people do science before we had the technology to access millions of papers with a simple mouse click 🤯?!

This is great work! This reinforces my belief that cognitive research (w/ children or adults) should pay more attention to INTRA-individual variability that manifests itself beyond a single testing session and examine relevant situational/contextual factors contributing to cognitive performance.

Suicide Prevention is a very important cause to me and based on multiple skeets on my skyline:

📞 988 - National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (has text chat, too)

🏳️‍⚧️ Trans Lifeline - 877-565-8860

🏳️‍🌈 Trevor Project - 866-488-7386

Or if you are in immediate danger go to the closest emergency room.

I suspect that some Dems didn’t vote due to the position of both candidates on Israel and Gaza. I also suspect that Trump did win over many black and Hispanic male voters, but my theory is that the closure and consolidation of polling locations had a huge impact and disproportionately affected Dems.

I think the conversation is what is important. I’m honestly here for the comments and correspondence 😜

I think part of it is a lack of clarity about what role preprint servers should play. That’s probably what the OP is responding to. I’m probably just restating the issue, but I don’t feel adequately informed to assert anything concretely. I agree with much of what YOU have said, though 🤔🙂

I’d be remiss if I didn’t acknowledge that I’m agnostic. What I will say is that there should be some demarcation. I think that blogs, empirical articles, and preprint servers aren’t entirely mutually exclusive and probably shouldn’t be, but it would be helpful to have some delineation.

This is a good example of a project that is methodological rather than theoretical, and sometimes journals want authors to integrate theory even when it takes away from important methodological groundwork. I don’t think this is an issue for our paper, but if it was, PsyArXiv is a great alternative.

To give another example, I was planning to upload a brief report on PsyArXiv about statistically comparing human-generated transcriptions against AI-defined transcriptions of child speech. The only reason we didn’t was because the project fell within the scope of a recently announced special issue.

PsyArXiv doesn’t have a paywall, for one, and that makes articles more accessible. Also, lots of folks upload articles on meta science, best practices for data management, and opinion pieces that don’t make empirical claims but instead center around open science issues in the field.
