The UK negotiated some pretty significant opt-outs the last time it joined. It would be the EU27's interest to accept the UK back but no opt-outs this time around. You're right, the French would be tough on that.

Just awful. Someone without a faintest idea what it takes to get through such a trauma if even possible.
