Passage from A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens: "โScrooge was better than his word. He did it all, and infinitely more; and to Tiny Tim, who did not die, he was a second father. He became as good a friend, as good a master, and as good a man, as the good old city knew, or any other good old city, town, or borough, in the good old world."
Gonzo's delivery of the single greatest line in film history is made infinitely better once you realise it is an EXACT rendering of Charles Dickens' own emphasis in the original story.
surely not after that
itโs far from the best method to acquire players, but you figure a team that spends and builds like they do could be solidly bolstered by the draft, at least with some depth pieces

Denver gave people experiencing homelessness $1k/month. A year later, nearly half had housing.
They also had fewer ER visits, nights spent in a hospital, and jail stays.
The report estimates that this reduction in public service use SAVED the city $589k.

Side A. The main scene takes place in the lower register, with an altar at its center, behind which stands a column topped by a scrolled crater. On the altar are two young women, suppliants. They take refuge on this altar to escape their pursuers, a helmeted young man unsheathing his sword on the left, and a bearded king on the right, holding his sword and his scepter. Behind the young man stands the god Pan, leaning against a stele, holding a lagobolon (staff used for hunting) and a phiale. Behind the king stands a second young man, dressed like the first. In the upper register, Artemis and Apollo converse, while a second group is formed by Aphrodite, Eros and a goddess identified as Peithรด, a personification of love-passion and persuasion. The interpretation of this scene remains difficult.
Side B The secondary side features a Dionysian scene. Dionysus is leaning against a stack of cushions, holding the thyrseus in his left hand and a phiale in his right. He is surrounded by maenads, a satyr and the god Pan, who sits at top left, holding a phiale and a lagobolon. Young Eros, holding a phiale and crown, flies above Dionysus. In front of the latter, a zither, an amphora and a phiale lie on the ground. Ancillary decor A rich decoration of palmettes adorns the body below the handles. The neck of the crater is decorated on either side with a woman's head emerging from a flower corolla.

A #Roman tile marked with the footprint of a chicken pressed into the surface some 1700+ years ago - dog, cat, & even human prints are not uncommon on tiles, but birds are less common, making this a particularly charming example of a marked tile ๐บ AncientBlueSky #Archaeology #RomanArchaeology
a bit of a broader answer, in the transition between Republic and Empire i would like to have been able to talk to common people on the street, understand the feelings about the political climate from those not so deeply involved in it, yet still feeling itโs effects.
Ryan Gauld nutmegging Luka Modric? Yeah, this is built for MLS die-hards and @grahamruthven.bsky.social alike.
Science will never discover the answer to this mystery because the answer is it displeases the pasta gods to break spaghetti in two

really appreciated this essay! the cross section between Greek and Latin as spoken languages at this time in antiquity is fascinating
The phrase "The die is cast" is one of the most famous quotes attributed to Julius Caesar, but it is actually a mistranslation of the sentence he is reported to have said in Greek.
