ONLINE COVER Maximum-intensity projection of a confocal image of epidermal cells from the Thale cress roots, where four colors stain different cell parts. Goldy et al. demonstrate that the protein actin allows cells to override standard division rules by stabilizing the orientation of spindles, which segregate chromosomes during mitosis. This uncovers a previously under-appreciated role for actin cytoskeletons, providing new insight into how division orientation is controlled to ensure robust tissue architecture during plant growth. I am beyond thrilled (like the screaming and jumping type of thrilled) that my SNSF Starting Grant was funded. I will start my own lab @unibe.ch next year, studying succulent anatomy development and if and how this anatomy is required for efficient CAM photosynthesis in different Kalanchoรซ species ๐ฑ
Thrilled to be among the recipients of the SNSF Starting Grants! Congrats to all the incredible researchers funded this year. Canโt wait to keep exploring how plants grow, sense, and respond to mechanical forces. Plants and biophysics rock!๐ฑโ๏ธ
Congratulations ๐ฆพ
Coming to you live from #ISPLORE2025JP Fresh preprint from my lab showing that leaves progressively oxygenate and how this is important for their morphogenesis. Thanks to our collaborators from @Fra_LicO2si lab. #plantscience
