for a car to be coveted it has to either be a meme or a legend. the funky cat cannot compare to the funk of a yaris through the lens of the chronically-online. in the same manner the U9’s blistering speed doesn’t compare to the 911’s storied presence in the crucible of motorsport.

i think what makes modern cars suck is that it lacks a story, myth, or pedigree. it’s always designers seeking perfection, creating stylish product, breaking records ad nauseum. but did the tesla go to valhalla? did the rimac survive 24 hours in hell? did a staria make a teen’s vacation enjoyable?
