I loved Kevin Stoneyβs iconic performance as Hamble. Surely the inspiration for Servalan?

And letβs pray that our keeper, whichever of them plays, doesnβt have another nervous breakdown. π€¦ββοΈ
In case no one had noticed. Just sayinβ
Now thatβs some first issue.
The 1970s - when progressive politics and reasonable pricing intersected. Those were the days. Sigh
I watched it on original broadcast. Its peculiarity is more apparent 50 years later. I remember this having a similar vibe.

Weβve all been there with similar experiences. Iβm sure you have seen it since, but if notβ¦

Well, it was horrible to see that poor keeper have a nervous breakdown on his debut and be hooked after 15 minutes. Quite distressing, and thatβs coming from a Chelsea fan.
Slowly making my way through the 60th Anniversary blu-ray box set of my favourite show as a kid - Thunderbirds. Itβs absolutely gorgeous. The colours really pop-out and you can see all the model work in such detail - including this surprisingly large 2 on the side of the green goddess.
To be fair to the ref, it takes some balls to send off The Hulk
Gan would look great in that
Well I never. Hadnβt heard of this. Strange mixture of rescue craft - theyβve ruined the brilliant designs of Thunderbirds 2 and 4, while T1, 3 and 5 are much more sympathetic re-designs and are largely successful.
Thatβs brilliant. πππ A frighteningly accurate description of how I felt as a kid towards the end of all those endless βwastedβ holidays.
Yep. Itβs pretty bleak at the moment. A bit of a mess.
To be fair to the woman in the shop who made the comment, itβs a frequently discussed theory. It appears in Alan Mooreβs From Hell, Patricia Cornwell etc. I donβt think the theory really holds up, but his great work is pretty dark and the connection remains in many peopleβs minds.
Great poster. Definite Weeping Angels vibes!
It was ever thusβ¦
Iβll just leave this hereβ¦
JMW Turner, uncredited inventor of the Doctor Who title sequence? Case closed, surely?
JMW Turner, uncredited inventor of the Doctor Who title sequence? I submit my indisputable evidence.
Big yellow Pan Am space plane
Pan Am in space. Very 2001, with a bit of Thunderbirds retro futurism thrown in and a touch of airline glossy magazine advertising. I imagine that all the passengers are drinking Martinis. Always loved this - itβs the yellow that makes it. Chris Moore, 1977 book cover, I believe.
Itβs lovely, but T2 always dominates for being such a revolutionary design. I can vouch for that - Iβve still got a scar above my eye from when a friend of mine as a kid caught me accidentally with one of T2βs forward facing wings on the Dinky toy. Curse you Derek Meddings!!!
The Thames at Rotherhithe, Wapping, by James McNeill Whistler, 1860.
Cakes are full of vitamins and protein
Surely an easy win? π
π― A wonderful, wonderful band. So many great songs. Every time Iβve seen them live has been a joy. Massively underrated.
Lovely sofa - bid now!!!!
My great grandmotherβs rather beautiful Egyptian 1890s sofa is now available on eBayβ¦ if anyone is interested! Re-upholstered and in superb condition. Not for slouching on, but perfect for an Agatha Christie mystery or when you have the vicar round for tea (before poisoning him/her).
I always preferred Turner - until I went to the exhibition at Tate Britain. Still prefer Turnerβs work, but realised that I had seriously underestimated Constable! And in this case, feel he captures the wild spirit of Stonehenge in a more convincing way
Constable painting, Stonehenge
JMW Turnerβs Stonehenge
Which is the better Stonehenge, Constable or Turner? Both would have been big fans of Stones of Blood/Children of the Stones, surely. Definite folk horror vibes
