I still don’t think people quite get the extent of the lawlessness that exists in the US right now. Every city. And the fact that any other space that is conquered and occupied will be subject to the same lack of respect for basic rights and the law. That’s the future if we fail to act immediately.
This is exactly what Russia needs - that the NATO countries get into a quarrel among themselves. And thereby the unity of NATO and the attention of NATO and the member countries is undermined.

If the strategic security of the Island is the real concern for the U.S. it could immediately return the troops there in coordination with Greenland and the Europeans.
