I was a teen in the late 80s, hanging out in an LA bookstore. A famous SF writer came in and caused a stir. He creeped on me and then asked me out. Old enough to be my dad. I was clearly underage. I felt crushed and gross. Sci-fi has a rich history of this.

Hello. I’m still here, knitting, stitching, and drawing. Maybe I can remember to share sketchbook pages more often. Or other creative things. Also, I’m scared I’m going to lose my health insurance. I’m disabled and very dependent on it. How are you?

❤️ Yumi and the Nightmare Painter by Brandon Sanderson - my first Sanderson book and wowza! I loved it. Original story and stayed with me for days after. I have no idea which one of his to read next. Help!

🌶️ Onyx Storm (The Empyrean, #3) by Rebecca Yarros - I get caught up in the hype and read stuff like this sometimes. No one needs my take

❤️ The Witch King (The Rising World #1) by Martha Wells - I really enjoyed the Murderbot Diaries (they’re short, just read them) & I trust the author. I gave it a shot despite feeling overwhelmed by the character list that went on for multiple pages. No spoilers, 5 ⭐️. Can’t wait to read the next!

🤔 The Rivals (Claudia Lin #2) by Jane Pek - Online dating, family dynamics, immigrant experiences, interracial and queer relationships, corporate evils… a LOT is going on here. Curious to see where it’s going but haven’t thought about it after finishing it

😬 Heist Royale (Thieves’ Gambit #2) by Kayvion Lewis - fast paced and thoroughly unbelievable. I wanted to see what happened after the first one and uh, this is definitely the follow up. Ambitious. Not for me but the right audience will like it.

👍 We Solve Murders (We Solve Murders #1) by Richard Osman - I enjoyed reading this and plan to read the next. I LOVE the Thursday Murder Club series by this author and at this point will read anything he writes.
