I was a teen in the late 80s, hanging out in an LA bookstore. A famous SF writer came in and caused a stir. He creeped on me and then asked me out. Old enough to be my dad. I was clearly underage. I felt crushed and gross. Sci-fi has a rich history of this.
Take that out, itβs okay
A picture of a sketchbook page. A drawing in black ink of a nonbinary person with some stringy hair coming out of an elaborate hat. The hat has abstract swirls and circles and flowers and long jester-like pieces on top. Their eyes are closed, lost in thought.
Iβve got a doodle from the sketchbook for you today. Have you considered something like this for your hair? I bet you havenβt! I love the Micron pens and have been using them to draw exclusively lately. βοΈ π

Hello. Iβm still here, knitting, stitching, and drawing. Maybe I can remember to share sketchbook pages more often. Or other creative things. Also, Iβm scared Iβm going to lose my health insurance. Iβm disabled and very dependent on it. How are you?
Youβre too kind! π₯Ήβ€οΈπ
A picture of a sketchbook page. Pen and ink doodle of stacked shapes. Mostly ovals. Abstract and geometric.
Another doodle from the retiring sketchbook. I should learn to use filters. Fun to see how I was drawing last year. βοΈπ¨ #micronpen
Thank you! β€οΈ
Picture of a sketchbook page. Pen and ink drawing or swirls and shapes, just a big doodle, really.
I finished another sketchbook today so I thought Iβd post some pictures from it. Just pen and ink doodles. I know I havenβt been here in a while. Hi! π¨ποΈπΌοΈβοΈ
All of these came from the library btw! π₯°
β€οΈ Yumi and the Nightmare Painter by Brandon Sanderson - my first Sanderson book and wowza! I loved it. Original story and stayed with me for days after. I have no idea which one of his to read next. Help!
πΆοΈ Onyx Storm (The Empyrean, #3) by Rebecca Yarros - I get caught up in the hype and read stuff like this sometimes. No one needs my take
β€οΈ The Witch King (The Rising World #1) by Martha Wells - I really enjoyed the Murderbot Diaries (theyβre short, just read them) & I trust the author. I gave it a shot despite feeling overwhelmed by the character list that went on for multiple pages. No spoilers, 5 βοΈ. Canβt wait to read the next!
π€ The Rivals (Claudia Lin #2) by Jane Pek - Online dating, family dynamics, immigrant experiences, interracial and queer relationships, corporate evilsβ¦ a LOT is going on here. Curious to see where itβs going but havenβt thought about it after finishing it
π¬ Heist Royale (Thievesβ Gambit #2) by Kayvion Lewis - fast paced and thoroughly unbelievable. I wanted to see what happened after the first one and uh, this is definitely the follow up. Ambitious. Not for me but the right audience will like it.
π We Solve Murders (We Solve Murders #1) by Richard Osman - I enjoyed reading this and plan to read the next. I LOVE the Thursday Murder Club series by this author and at this point will read anything he writes.
6 book covers. They are: Yumi and the Nightmare Painter by Brandon Sanderson, We Solve Murders by Richard Osman, Witch King by Martha Wells, the Rivals by Jane Pek, Heist Royale by Kayvion Lewis, Onyx Storm by Rebecca Yarros. Also there is black text against yellow background that says βBooks I read in January. See caption for detailsβ
I read 6 books in January: I will describe them in the replies because of character limits. Did you read any of these? What are you reading? Iβd love to know! πππ#booksky

Iβve had this amazing yarn in my stash for awhile now & donβt know what to do with it. 1000g, 3800m, sock wt. Embroidery scissors for scale. Probably wants to be a blanket - I want to honor this glorious yarn π§Ά in the most special way w/a pattern worthy of it. Ideas?! #crochet #knit #yarn #crafting
Michele! Thank you, and nice to see you too! β€οΈ
