After months of debate, tough battles, and standing up for Georgians, the 2025 legislative session is coming to a close. While we may be wrapping under the Gold Dome, our commitment to fighting for Georgians continues, inside and outside the Capitol. Happy Sine Die! #gapol
The GA Senate GOP rammed through a patronizing bill to ban diversity programs in schools.
Listen to Sen. David Lucas's fiery opposition to HB 127:
BAD BILL ALERT: HB 397 is part of a broader pattern of voter suppression in GA. It restricts ballot access by banning Georgians from dropping off mail ballots over the weekend ahead of election day while making it easier for extreme activists to challenge Georgiansβ right to vote.
What keeps you motivated?
Here's what @jasonesteves.bsky.social and Georgia Young Democrats President Davante Jennings say keeps them going as we close out the legislative session:
"HB 397 seeks to encode several State Election Board rules the courts overturned last year, including the proposal to count ballots cast by hand after polls close on election night.
Additionally, the bill would bar voters from hand-delivering absentee ballots the weekend before Election Day."
GOOD BILL PASSED: SB 170 from @kimforgeorgia.bsky.social requires the Department of Community Health to establish a grant program to fund rural hospitals in purchasing and installing backup generators to ensure continued operation during a state of emergency.
Congratulations to the Senator from the 14th! Senator McLaurin's (@joshforgeorgia.bsky.social) bill to regulate the booting industry moves on to the House for one final vote. #gapol
"Georgia owns the record for the most voter registrations canceled at once when election officials removed 534,000 voter registrations in July 2017. Other states such as Texas have also canceled many registrations, with over 1 million removed since 2021."
WATCH: Sen. Ossoffβs full questioning of Trump Administration officials on the recent signal chat scandal.
"Rates keep climbing, claims are being denied and coverage is shrinking, yet insurers continue posting record profits. Recent revelations out of FL show property insurers reporting hundreds of millions in losses while affiliated companies make billions."
On the heels of a tax break for the wealthiest in the state, today, State Senate Republicans will attempt to cram through their tort reform package, scratching the back of the billion-dollar insurance industry and leaving you with higher premiums. #gapol
Congratulations to the Senator from the 33rd! SB 147 moves on to the House Rules Committee!
Thanks to the League of Cities for coming by my office this week! Always good to hear from mayors and councilmembers across Georgia who collectively represent millions of Georgians in our cities, suburbs, and rural areas.
With the passage of SB 220, Democrats ensured medical cannabis is one step closer to being legal and accessible to patients in Georgia.
Through the bill, registered patients can legally possess up to 2 ounces of medical cannabis, ensuring they get the appropriate medical care they need and deserve.

Health insurance is expensive. Senator Esteves has a plan to ease that burden.
SB 267 changes how HSA taxes are collected, saving the state and state employees their hard-earned money.
"Another crossover dud was SB 120, which seeks to ban K-12 schools and colleges from promoting, supporting or maintaining βany programs or activities that advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion."
The controversial bill was on the calendar, but the DEI bill had still not been voted on."
GOP INACTION: "Two pieces of legislation pushed by consumer advocates in response to Georgiansβ ballooning power bills and the influx of data centers were not called for votes on Crossover Day on Thursday, likely dooming both measures this session."

The Democrats from the State House and the State Senate held a joint press conference on Crossover Day. While we've push legislation that helps working-class Georgians by lowering the cost of healthcare, education, and protecting civil rights, the GOP has only pushed divisive bills. #gapol
From @thedemocrats: Trump has no plan to lower costs and help workers. Across the states, Democrats are taking action.
Happy birthday to the Senator from the 38th! @rashaunkemp.bsky.social
PASSED: Congratulations, Senator Wicks, on the passage of SB 236. The third Democrat-sponsored bill to pass the Georgia State Senate in 2025.
PASSED! Congratulations, Senator Harbison, on the passage of SB 109. The first Democrat-sponsored bill to pass the Georgia State Senate in 2025.
Senate Republicans passed SB 36 (RFRA), a bill that institutions and individuals can use to argue that their faith justifies discrimination.
All 23 Democrats voted against the bill, instead offering up a real solution: A statewide Civil Rights Act.
Republicans voted against it.
π¨BREAKING NEWS! πWe are on to rules! Our first bill passed the education committee UNANIMOUSLY! A huge step toward ending three-cueing, or teaching kids to guess. This bill is about equity. Letβs get it done! πͺπ½
