i think it's even smaller than a 120 film holder
btw i'm curious how your experience will go. 120 is a marvelous but finicky format.

three 35mm cameras on a tree stump in descending size: a Pentax KX SLR with 28mm lens, a Rollei Prego 90 point & shoot, and the Minox 35 GT compact
the original Minox 35-series cameras are some of the smallest 135 film cameras ever made. that Rollei Prego 90 is a brick by comparison.
holding a Minox 35 GT in the palm of my hand. it is a small black 35mm viewfinder camera, about the size of a couple decks of cards, with a retractable lens and drawbridge front cover
i just think they're neat.

oh no - definitely reach out to friends if you hit the Bo Burnham stage! lol
ugh that's terrible - you've already dealt with so much. i hope you can get relief soon.
"and THIS happy little fellow we call THE GOUGER."
i just said that a day or two ago. inescapable.
i read that lens fungus is eating random organic debris that's left over from manufacturing or crept in as dust and i realized that it is the ultimate predator, the eater of all, the terminus of life
midway through unwrapping a deli-made onigiri that requires the right sequence of steps and folds
not everything is taught in school. some things you just gotta learn on the streets.
thanks! i got partway through and realized i need a diagram. at least i haven't damaged anything!
(sigh) this Pentax 50mm has different construction than the *other* Pentax 50mm i disassembled. i couldn't figure out how to remove the element with the fungus (the deepest, of course), so i need to do a little research before i screw something up.
also the Minox 35 is finicky! still needs work!
PINEAPPLE BEEF
a 70's Pentax 50mm f/1.4 lens and 80's Minox 35 GT camera sitting on a project tray. the top of the Minox is missing, revealing a circuit board.
close-up of the Pentax's rear glass showing ghostly threads of fungus covering one edge of the element
it's time to reassemble this Minox camera and clean the fungus out of this Pentax lens. i practiced cleaning on a cheaper lens, plus this shouldn't require as much disassembly, so i'm optimistic!

good lord that's gross and embarrassing
at first i thought they just used someone with an obnoxious voice, not a throwaway joke from a sexist 60's comedy.
is it my time for #WhatAGameDevLooksLike?!
i normally don't consider myself a "game dev" because i design services, not gameplay. but lately i've been working on [NDA REQUIRED] for [REDACTED], so... maybe?
YOU experience bij!
it's already getting in my hands!
film developing success! film scanning success!
the dev is easy enough if you didn't botch high school chemistry lab (i used FPP's D-76 for Kent Pan 400). scanning is much more finicky, but my setup just needs some tweaks.
side note: the Rollei Prego 90's double-exposure mode is fun

it's time for chemistry magic: developing film
i haven't done this in ages, but it's fairly easy and very rewarding. let's agitate!

update: well, i didn't assemble it, but by choice. i realized that i could do it, but it would be both tricky and make some later steps unnecessarily harder. instead, i prepped to wrap the downpipes. getting closer...
a strut with control arms and tie rod end inside a car's front wheel well, but no knuckle (wheel bearing housing)
can our valiant hero assemble a double-wishbone suspension without axles OR a subframe - and not screw up his carefully-positioned upper control arms?
let's watch!

oh shit did the music just change...?
my test roll is Kent Pan 400 i banged through a point & shoot in a couple days (though there might be some nice shots). with D-76 developer it'll be the same combination as the lab-processed shots below, giving me a professional control to compare to.
bottles, developing tanks, a funnel, and other darkroom equipment in a bin. one bottle is hand labeled with "Dev D-76".
the chemicals* are mixed, the equipment is washed, and i practiced loading a reel. tonight, i'll develop some film for the first time in over 20 years. #photography
* excuse me, "chemistry"
ooo hmm - hopefully it's just a harness issue (pinched by a seat support?) and not the heating element
i am thrilled that these Minox cameras work and - thanks to the fine people at Blue Moon Camera - the test rolls & scans look great. now to start developing and scanning at home...
color: Minox LX + Kodak Ektar 100 (i think)
B&W: Minox BL + Ilford Delta 400

does it also have heated seats? few comforts are as sweet.

oop had them mixed up: color is Portra 400, B&W is Delta 100
