The DC's Activist Street Band met up with Brass Solidarity from Minneapolis and together they brought some joy and resistance to the neighbors around Lamont Plaza in Mt Pleasant (DC NW).
108 days and 2,300 miles.
Several thousand admirers turned out at the National Cathedral and along embassy row to be in the presence of the monks who walked from Texas to the nation’s capital, to “raise awareness and mindfulness.” #PeaceWalkDC #PeaceWalk #MonksWalkingForPeace #MonksWalk

A monk walks toward the Peace Gathering and Concluding Ceremony at the Lincoln Memorial. Fingers forming the ancient gesture of teaching — not to instruct, but to remind.
Peace is not argued.
It is practiced.

Yes votes to confirm Noem:

Sen. Gary Peters (D-MI)
Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH)

Are you not aware that she's just a beard for Corey Lewandowski? Noem is just the shadow Secretary.
"Team Trump’s authoritarian project is failing. They apparently imagined Americans would cheer or cower in the face of violent repression, but the opposite has happened."
I like the way @nicholasgrossman.bsky.social captures how ICE brutality is resonating deep in MAGA-adjacent info spaces:
Sign reading "FUCK ICE" flys on flag in Minneapolis after murder of Renee Good.
"ILWU Local 34 members in the Bay Area commemorated the life of Renee Good by loading a ship with containers to spell her name. The ship then went to Tacoma, Washington." via Indybay.org
Students in California walkout against ICE.
Demonstrators in Chicago hold signs condemning ICE terror and murder. Person holds sign reading, "ICE murders Moms and Nurses" as others march with signs around them.
A general strike in Minneapolis. Student walkouts across the country. Demonstrations break out everywhere, organized by prisoners, workers, and youth - are all picking up speed.
Masses of people are working together to organize mutual aid + community solidarity on a growing scale. A thread.
Our kids? Can we talk about the generations of smooth brained cultists that are running amok in this country? I don't blame kids for wanting to tune out on Tik-Tok They are living in an insane asylum.
Has White Supremacy risen from the ashes of history or has it been with us all along? People often assumed white supremacy was being dismantled—because surface indicators improved. But we rarely confronted capitalism, the system that quietly reconstitutes hierarchy even as the language changes.

Walz: "What's happening in MN defies belief. News reports simply don't do justice to the level of chaos & disruption & trauma the federal govt is raining down... This long ago stopped being a matter of immigration enforcement. Instead, it's a campaign of organized brutality against the people of MN"
He got a bruised palm from high-fiving his fellow Orcs.
The Constitution also exists to mediate conflict among citizens, factions, states, and interests so disputes are resolved through law instead of force. It provides the basis upon which we are protected each from one another.
We are racing toward AI and hyperscale data centers without fully articulating—much less quantifying—the risks, and we’re doing so with no meaningful guardrails or brakes. That recklessness makes grim sense when you remember that climate risks are well known, well measured, and routinely ignored.
As data centers pop up in every corner of the country, their electricity demands are spiking rates for everyone.
But why on Earth should you be covering the electricity bill of a billion-dollar tech giant?
This week, @warren.senate.gov, @blumenthal.senate.gov, & I are asking big tech just that.
“The system depends on its citizens behaving as though the system’s commands were natural, accepted, beyond question. When they do so, they help create the reality that enslaves them.” ~ Václav Havel (The Power of the Powerless, 1978)

Old Town Manassas this evening. A curative to all the data center fences and walls I've been seeing. A slant of warm light across worn bricks. We live in a world rushing past—but still, some places hold time gently, like a photograph just waiting to be taken.

My favorite picture from yesterday's Veterans Rally. It's ice cream on a cold day but there's a genuine warmth in the interaction. There's a lot going on visually at these events but the best moments are catching people just being real. #streetphotography #eastcoastkin #DC #vets

Data Center Spotting,Northern VA, where we build data centers in backyards. They are here for cheap land, tax breaks, and lax regulation. What could go wrong?

While all eyes are on DC, thirty miles to the west in Prince William and Loudoun Counties, they’re hard at work building the deep infrastructure of the corporate surveillance state. We'll make great pets.

This is the couple from the first wedding I officiated as a Secular Humanist Chaplain. Earlier this year, as DOGE tore through the federal government, I knew my time in public service was ending — and something deeper in America was shifting.
