Despite losing at every political level, opponents of SART have vowed to keep fighting it. The main organization opposing the trail, “Save Our Street” (SOS) held a meeting July 10 at Cities Church on Summit Avenue. At the meeting, SOS presented the same old bogus arguments against the trail.

A funny little local political angle, this church has been helping lead opposition to the Summit Avenue bike trail, a longtime obsession of local NIMBYs. streets.mn/2025/07/24/s...

So great to hear about urbanism from young folks around the Twin Cities!

This was the illegal home invasion caught on video where ICE did not have a judicial warrant and entered anyway over resident objections.

Perspective of a Newcomer to Minneapolis: Getting to Know Uptown by Bike and Bus Why I uprooted my life in Denver to settle in Minneapolis.

"Fortunately, I learned that I had moved to the Wedge at the perfect time. As Uptown recovers from years of Hennepin construction, there is a concerted effort within the community to uplift small, locally owned businesses."

Demystifying OpenStreetMap Come learn how to use and contribute to “the Wikipedia of maps,” OpenStreetMap!

OpenStreetMap is the Wikipedia of maps: a publicly-available database of spacial information that anyone can edit. We sit down with prolific OSM contributor Jackson Kruger to talk about the best ways to use the data, and how to get comfortable with contributing to the project.

I get really pissed off at my own friends and acquaintances sometimes, because people are always asking me why I am so militant about bad drivers, bike lanes, and crosswalks

"Why do you care so much about that? Why do you confront drivers?"

Because people are dying and no one else seems to care

Using fencing to curb homelessness in the Twin Cities is an insult - MinnPost Agencies and governments turn to fencing instead of actual solutions for problems related to people experiencing homelessness.

"Fences have become a scourge for anyone trying to walk around downtowns or working-class Twin Cities neighborhoods over the last few years. Instead of solving challenging problems, our governments have turned to fences that cut off necessary urban connections..."

Lots of good resources and candidate information about the Minneapolis municipal election on November 4. Check it out!

I pretty much cosign on everything except mayoral candidate order (pick your own order!) and park board at-large (I'm voting Amber Frederick instead of Adam Schneider).

Community and connection: a history of 35th and 36th Streets Lindsey Fenner describes the history of 35th and 36th Streets and the Black community disrupted by the building of Interstate 35W.

"After Interstate 35W opened and 35th and 36th streets were converted into one-way streets, the neighborhood shifted. According to census research by Dr. Lloyd, the black neighborhood contracted. The western boundary shifted from Nicollet Avenue to 35W, making the area more segregated."

Re today’s Hennepin Cty Lyndale Ave botch (they cut out bike infra for a “shared use” lane mixing bikes & pedestrians; sub-Bryant Ave; won’t work). Biz owners behind Frey want compliant Council as of 1/26 … this is among big reasons Uptown Assn & ThriveMpls are spending $$. Support progressives!

Best I can tell the county found a way to eliminate the bike path, while preserving their ability to say they haven't eliminated the bike path. Bizarre outcome.

Countdown

The final concept design for Lyndale Ave is out and friends, it's really bad. They have a SHARED USE PATH on the east side of the street.

You don't put shared use paths in busy commercial areas, especially when this is in one of the densest neighborhoods in the entire state!

2026-31 Capital Budget Requests Department-submitted Capital Budget Requests.

Disappointed that the Mayor's proposed budget includes $20 million for Downtown Transit Improvements; which is for moving buses off of Nicollet Mall. (By the way, the community engagement around that project has largely been "don't"). stories.opengov.com/minneapolism...

Next session we should start talking about state run or subsidized Intercity buses.

You should be able to buy a ticket to go to St Cloud, Mankato, Duluth, Rochester at an affordable consistent price with multiple trips leaving per day.

Tearing down City Center would open more space for a park/plaza too.

Then pedestrianize 6th St and First Avenue. That's the entertainment district anyway.

I am incredibly honored to be the DFL endorsed candidate for Minneapolis Mayor. This endorsement is a message that Minneapolis residents are done with broken promises, vetoes, and politics as usual. It’s a mandate to build a city that works for all of us. fatehformayor.com/donate
